If they bid before that was up then that isn't their fault. Those types of auctions should die. :smt067

They worded the auction as if you are getting a new PSP. They gave a picture of a PSP. They said they have sold loads cheap.

Then, after a few hours, after people bid, they posted an amendment - that you're not bidding $350 for a PSP, but paying them to reveal their distributor.

This is absolutely DISPICABLE behaviour, and should not be tolerated. :angry

I urge you all to report this seller by clicking here, then clicking on E-mail near the bottom. Enter the item number, and why you are reporting it.

The seller actually has 4 more similar auctions.

This is all to common on ebay and the sad thing is, it is legal. Now you know most of us our smart enough to see the red flags, like 0 feedback and his registration date as well as private auction - bidders' identities protected , But I have seen this type of auction played out in court and it is legal to sell information and as long as he provides a wholeseller ,even if he pulled it random from the phone book its legal.
When he added the disclaimer im sure it was the result of peoples email complaints to ebay ,and ebay enforceing it and not on his own accord.

It's actually against eBay policy to do this--but they don't give a shit. Go on, report that auction, and eBay won't do a goddamn thing. We did it with freaking Propellor Arena and HL on the DCH boards, and they ignored us. Took a freakin' 3rd party that idrepublix got which served up an instant cease and desist on their ass.

    YES!

With the auction due to end sometime today (when I posted it was 8 hours to go), they removed it! THEY LISTENED TO US!!!

:smt023 restores my faith in ebay a little.

    Those fucking bastards....

Oh, but try and sell a Mod-Chipped console or a Japanese Import Saturn game that requires a modchip.

I wouldn't have a go at them. Modchips infringe Sony/nintendo/Sega/whoever's property rights. Read the agreement with your console, it will say you have no rights to modify their copyrighted design (includes the circuit design) in any way. In fact, they are starting to prosecute people.

As for imports, well again, I think you'll find that there is something on the game stating it is only for sale in that territory.

eBay are only doing what they have been asked by the game companies.

It's not illegal to sell a game from another country. Thus "import." It's not illegal in the least to buy a PAL game, or say an English scarf off eBay. Even though they were both "released" (i.e. distributed) in England originally.

Mod-chips are a sort of "gray" area. For one, you completely void your warranty by installing one. Then again, it's against the "agreeement" you "make" when you purchase the console.

Is the DC an "open" platform? I mean, like it's legal and stuff for all these homebrew releases to be sold?

You say the most stupid things sometimes.... Go look at any game and you will see its infact illegal to sell imports. Shops in london have STOPED selling imports because of this. Dint Nintendo have a big hissy fit with someone over imports?

    *Edit*

    http://www.ferrago.com/story/1683

As far as i know its illegal to sell any game that isnt licensed by sega.

Since buying Imports is "illegal", does that mean you could buy something from another country on ebay and get in trouble for it? I think Nintendo needs to get a life and quit bitching at the stupidest things. They SHOULD get madder at ROMs and all of that, but few game companies take the time to prosecute anyone. What could hurt Nintendo by someone buying imports anyway?

    Lik-sang.com. Hmmm. Play-Asia.com. Hmmm. ncsx.com. Hmmm.

So it's illegal to own a copy of Chaos Field if I'm not in Japan? Yeah, right.

Edit: And, to boot, on my US Dreamcast games, it says nothing ANYWHERE of it being illegal to "import" the game. NOWHERE. It says:

"Unauthorized copying, reproduction, rental, public performance of this game is a violation of applicable laws."

And the only mention of NTSC is:

"Operates only with NTSC televiosns and Sega Dreamcast systems purchased in North and South America (except Argentina, Paraguayand Uruguay). Will not operate with any other televisions or Sega Dreamcast systems."

NO mention of any violation of agreement etc. with importing. I am so "stupid," yet there is no problem with importing DC games.

It will be "Illegal" since Nintendo will be a bitch about it.

Maybe they dont want youngsters to know about that uncensored version of "A Link to the past."

No its illegal to sell them. Also your not meant to make copies of tv shows yet everyone does but they dont care...

Have you got an import game... look at the back of any dreamcast Jap game and you will see "FOR JAPAN ONLY" and "NO RESALE" amongst other things....
