I think it's "illegal" to sell used games, which is laugh. Something about distibution/selling, in the user agreement, but in all honesty they can't really enforce it, and it's an infringement of your rights. :smt043
Yeah, they can put "not for resale" as many times as they like on boxes but I'm still not gonna care! Didn't the European Commission (or some EU thingy) sue Nintendo's ass for something along those lines a couple of years ago? They sued them like 10 million Euro for something...
Umm, try adjusting the vertical hold? My friend complained about that on his cheap portable (PAL displaying 60hz) with his DC. I told him about the vertical hold, he found it, instant change and he was very happy :smt023
Try 149 million Euros. Nintendo got fined big time for price fixing in Europe though I'm not sure how it turned out on appeal. Nintendo was pretty notorious for these kinds of tactics when they were #1. It amazes me that people can bash Microsoft all day long and then turn a blind eye to the crap Nintendo has pulled.
There might be some dial somewhere (on the front or back of your TV) that says "V-hold" or something like that. If there isn't one, you're out of luck, though... And was there much talk about the whole nintendo being fined 149 million Euro at the time? I remember seeing a report on the BBC News (the only videogame-related thing I've EVER seen on the BBC 6 o'clock News!!), but didn't hear anything else about it. Though I don't think I was on the internet/buying magazines much at the time. Did anyone in the US know about this?
Price fixing is different from regional pricing, though. I'm pretty sure that Nintendo was threatening to cut deliveries to sellers who sell games below the MSRP near the release date. If you want to hear some real crazy Nintendo stories, you need to head to Japan. Among other things, they've made renting games very difficult, tried to get used game sales declared illegal, taken control of a distribution network (the Shoshinkai (?)) that made it very difficult for non-Nintendo consoles to be sold, etc., etc. Nintendo is smart, though. Their profit-per-console is much higher than Sony or Microsoft, and their cash reserves are in the billions of dollars.
Unfortunately, it's also why they won't be around in 10 years if they keep up their ridiculous bullshit.
