Yeah, cuz that's something you'd mention as a selling point

He could also have mentioned that you can get the SX32 addon and turn it into an Amiga. That's a very cool feature. What he wouldn't mention is that it is now very rare and the last one on eBay sold for a few hundred dollars!

Oh, and I've had no problems with my controllers. I wouldn't describe them as cool, though. And only as funky in a bad way. Horrible design!

I'll just let you guys know that the guy agreed to send me the manuals and such for the system. I think I'm just going to leave it at that if he comes through.

He seems to think that the box doesn't matter...and I'd feel dirty taking money back...so I guess this is how it ends. Probably...

    Also...

You mean like working your ass off to get something for your birthday and get half of the value for your money.

Mr Seller should have known better or take a packing course with Yakumo he is the ultimate packer!!!

Claim your money back or at least some of it, don't feel bad about it, it's business!!! You're the customer and you're not satisfied and as a collector you have good reaons not to be, I say fair shout!!!

It states in the auction that it comes with manuals and warranty cards anyway so I wouldn't accept this as 'calling it even'.

Basically the item was sent incomplete and packaged terribly. I would have asked that the manuals be sent through asap and a part refund also. Its highly unlikely that you are going to find someone selling a mint box on its own so you have, in theory, bought a loose system.

There really is no excuse for badly packaging stuff. Its not like you need to spend a fortune on bubble wrap and such, using lots of newspaper and plastic carrier bags costs nothing and adds nominal extra weight.

If a seller isn't going to package something properly, or make out the box isn't an important part of what your buying, then the auction simply shouldn't even mention the box or its condition in the text and photographs. You wanted what you saw in the auction, you didn't get that, so get some money back instead. Don't feel any guilt over it; infact feel the opposite, losing some money might make the seller treat his next buyers better.

I'm actually in a similar boat right now - I got an ebay item shipped to me where the seller must have found that they didn't have the right shape box to ship the thing in - so they took whatever box they had, cut it into pieces & stuck those bits with a mix of masking tape/sellotape directly onto the items own box - thereby ensuring that any artwork on the box gets messed up by the adhesive on the tape. To add insult to injury, they only had enough box bits to stick over approximately the lower 2/3rds of the item's own box - so they went ahead & posted it with that end completely exposed! Of course, it went by media mail & the seller had already started pestering me for feedback (so paypal will release the money to them) before the thing arrived. And when it did actually arrive, it had gotten pretty trashed, as there wasn't anything like enough protection in the packing.

It wasn't an expensive item, so to be honest, I'd normally just suck it up & forget about it, without leaving any feedback. It certainly isn't worth returning it. Ironically, it would be easier for me to leave good feedback & forget about it, rather than give bad/neutral & have to return the thing/trapse through the dispute procedures - but I'm damned if I'm going to give a positive for that kind of crappy packing that actually results in the trashing of the item.
