Theyre for upgrade, and thats (I believe) the latest board/firmware combo.

How do I know? I got them from the same place he did

Useless unless you plan to upgrade a GBOX/GDEV/DDH system.
Also, the USB2EXI included is worth a bit

It was released on C64 and Atari 2600 and both use (and came packaged with) that controller. It was also released for Apple but that one may need a different controller.

good point, i didnt notice that till now, but i belive you can get replacement buttons that are like that, what really makes it iffy is that crack on that case, i have one of those on my psp from opening it up and putting the screw back in that area too tight. But i could be wrong. Maybe homebrew would run on this? Also he doesnt state wheater the mp4 movies or umd videos work on it.

Lingjr posted this thing a few weeks ago, and i said it was genuine then. It's in this thread 10 or 15 pages back. Basicly while the psp was in development, sony made roughly 100 prototypes, they have no markings on the face buttons and silver shoulder buttons. They were only given to sony employees in japan (maybe a few made it to sony america, but i've never heard of one over here). It was basicly to let the developers get a feel for the system while they were developing the games. After true production started up, sony recalled all of the prototypes and most likely destroyed them. My guess is that fewer than 10 survive. But it I really don't see why it doesn't play retail games... my guess is that it's busted.

I probably be skeptical of it from anyone else, but Lingjr is farely respectable, isn't he? Seems to have a lot of legit stuff (although maybe kind of expensive in some people's opinion...)

As for it not playing games, maybe at the time they created the protos the encryption system wasn't written/developed yet, so it will only play un-encrypted games (which UMDs are not). Kinda like the 1.0 firmware in the Japanese units allowing un-encrypted Homebrew games when it really shouldn't have...

Grr... i hate it when i repeat myself in the same paragraph. "my gues is" and then "my guess is'...

EDIT: oops, i forgot to put any real content into this post...

I've had some issues with lingjr in the past, mostly due to poor communications. My advise is not to deal with him unless you speak Japanese. Strangely enough, he tries to sell a lot of his merchandise for higher prices then it would be to actually buy it from sony/microsoft/nintendo... but obviously there are legal issues with buying it direct.
