i will be glad if someone who already have jtag could help to test new firmware need to test: 1) flashram saves in various games 2) total stability link to update firmware update should be performed via AS port in active serial mode :birthday: edit: fw update video tutorial end
I'll test it out when my cart arrives, should have time on Monday. Any games in particular I should look at? EDIT: Tested Command and Conquer and Majora's Mask both appear to be working just fine.
just need to try few flashram games (any). start to play, then save few times, then try to load and so one
If this is successful, can I assume that at some point the units will ship with this feature activated? Or will the upgrade be left up to the consumer?
I just tried this with the USB-Blaster but it wouldn't complete the programming and now the ED64 won't even start The red led is on but the green led is weak and doesn't flash. Is the card broken now?
Have you tried reflashing? You should be able to reprogram it even if the card doesn't boot... it just uses the n64 itself for power.
Yes, I've tried to program but Quartus II just says "failed" and ED64 shows a black screen. I did exactly like in the video, except the N64 was powered off when I first connected the cable to the AS port.
You could, I'd wait until the final version of the firmware is out (aka it's out of testing). Also, I just updated my firmware and if you want you could send it to me here in Colorado along with a few bucks and I can update it as well, if you dont wanna use the voucher for a non-final firmware.
Hmmm... I did mine with the n64 on when i connected the USB-Blaster and it went just fine. Perhaps KRIKzz will have a better answer for you. Also, are you sure you have the plug the right way around?
Yes, but please wait until its tested and finalized. Do not bother sending voucher, but feel free to use shipping credit coupon code. I feel FRAM firmware is very important update and not worth use of voucher, especially being so close to original launch of ED64.
I just got my ED64 today and I'm trying to update it to the last firmware. I got an altera USB blaster. It's hooked up to the ED64 and the N64 is turned on. I followed the steps shown in Krizz YouTube video and all I get is an error when I press start to flash it, Error: can't recognize silicon ID for device 1 I'm using the driver from altera's website and I'm using Quartus II 11.0sp1 programmer. I'm using Win7/64bit. Any help would be very much appreciated. If it's of some help, I could upload a video of my setup/process.
possible problems: 1) need to keep connector by fingers otherwise contact will be no a sure 2) quartus v11 have some bugs in firmware update section, so need to install 11.0_programmer_windows.exe also or use more old version of quartus edit: by the way, impossible to kill cart by usb blaster. firmware can be reloaded even if previous attempt was failed
Yeah, you were right. Not enough pressure on the contact. I felt that the connection was pretty tight, but you really have to apply pressure for it to work. Thanks
so we only need they Programmer and they Quartus II Web Edition Software instaled because i have both of them with SP1 on my pc of Ver.11. Will that work? i am sorry to ask.
