Yeah but I saw in this thread that Krikzz was talking it would be possible to implement clone detection by checking changes made in the bios of the clone.

Of course I am curious of this device. I searched for it and saw several sellers selling it. I can admit that even if this thing is a pure steal of Krikzz's work, the cart passthrough for the CIC chip is a good idea as it saves the user from soldering a CIC and butchering an original game in the process.

I was asking about the OS update because most of the shops state that the latest OS is 1.28. Maybe it's because 1.29 cannot be used or simply that support for these have stopped and they simply haven't updated the description.

Anyway I don't really care about it, all I would like is a new OS update for GameShark support and possibly faster SD loading for my v1! Then crippling the ED64Plus would be a pain for some buyers, providing theirs work fine in the first place lol!

My buddy has a ED64Plus that he got for $70. Doesn't need the cart on top. Works amazing from what I've seen.

I'm very sorry to hear that it is a ripoff of another's idea, but then again I guess a lot of Chinese manufactured stuff is.

I'm on the fence now, I was going to buy a ED64Plus, but now I may support the original creator because I think that's fair. However, the price point is a HUGE difference and that's what's left me on the fence. $70 vs. $170 is a little steep.

There's usually a reason for a price difference. The Everdrive 64 v2 is actually from $99. The v3 is from $167. You can import an ED64Plus from Asia for around $70 PLUS shipping (and import duty if you're in Europe). Naturally, there are more features (RTC, battery save RAM, better compatability) in the v3 over the v2. No doubt you could get an original Everdrive 64 cheap.

The ED64Plus is based on the first Everdrive - so I'd say it's kinda expensive and not very good in comparison. You get what you pay for.

The v2 is worth the extra $27. On top of supporting the original creator, you also get his technical support should anything go wrong. He doesn't explicitly offer warranties as such, but he's regularly active on his own forum and if it's an issue that can't be fixed by you he'll offer for you to have it sent back to him for repair or replacement.

The anwer is really simple: Have a look here: http://krikzz.com/pub/support/ed64/os-bin/changelist.txt
The Everdrive 64 V1 and therefore also it's clone the ED64Plus only support OS versions up to 1.29 So if you like any of the features of the newer OS then you need to buy the Everdrive 64 V2. if you can live without those improvements then go ahead and buy an ED64Plus, but be aware that any bugs that might be present there will never get fixed.
