Better than the random ones about my day to day live/gripes right :p

matter of opinion, I do think I said the Dreamcast is the definitive version though

It's not a matter of opinion at all, considering the PS version has long load times and missing animation frames. Which in fact makes it the worst version since no other versions have those problems.

    Seconded..->

And the Dreamcast version ain't the definitive one either. You have heard of Saturn, right? Reissued after the DC port on the only true 2D fighting console (apart the NG), supported by 4MB of extra RAM and original resolution.

I fail again... I didn't realize there was a thread for this sort of thing...

we'll just discuss what we started discussing then (Best Version of SFA 3)

I seldom See missing animation frames. or hardly notice. I am aware of the long load times but the artwork made it bareable. It's the world tour mode That makes it. I didn't even know there was a saturn port until a few years ago and I don't know anything about it.

Oh and the GBA version wishes to have a talk with you

The reason you don't notice missing animation frames is just that you haven't played the arcade version enough apparently. It's easy to notice missing frames in the PS versions of, for example, SFA3 and Metal Slug X if you've played the original versions enough. Comparing to a version on a handheld with memory limitations is unfair (I probably should've said "home versions" because of pedantic crap), but considering the limited resources I'd say that version turned out at least as good as the PS one and you can play it anywhere, which is another strike against the Playstation version

    Unless you have a PSP

Though I think Adding Yun and Ingrid is a bit much.

So what is so great about the Saturn Version and what does it have over the Dreamcast version?

It runs in the correct resolution unlike the DC version, and the controller is better.

(And yes, you can play the PS version anywhere with the PSP's emulator, but even if it was possible to play a fighting game with the PSP's crappy D-pad, there's a superior PSP version of SFA3)

Originally there was a CPS board which got ported to Dreamcast / ps1. They messed up the resolution w/Dreamcast and then God brought us SF Zero 3 for Saturn - original lowres, everything perfect.
Later there was finally a Naomi version to be released, but this one has been called SF Zero 3 Upper (like the GBA port) and is NOT identical to the actual Dreamcast-game - it's arcade-only! There's also a sequel to the GBA game called SF Zero 3 Double Upper (PSP).

There is the Alpha collection on PS2 which for the most part is arcade perfect Upper is hidden.

Double Upper is SFA3 MAX which I think is a needless port (PSP mapping sucks for SF)

See, in order to declare something the best, you have to play them all. Its kind of a requirement.

On a Saturn? Although if you are trying to play a CD-R then try a toaster as it's a little known fact that if you put a saturn game on a CD-R and put it in a toaster you can play Saturn games if you put the toaster near a a TV, make sure the toaster is switched on and you play the game by putting a stainless steel fork (must be 100% else it won't work) in the other toasting slot, remember to jam down hard to start the game. .

Buy a Saturn, a 4MB RAM cart and the game. I've got an alternative to the last mind.

It's not that unreasonable of a request really. I also thought the PSP version was kickass.
