You maybe know the Elveon X360 release/videos. I got today for testing the PS3 disc compilation. 8 discs with builds from June 2007 - May 2008. The V1 and V2 builds looks very early, with heavy fps slowdowns and different menue level start. The other discs are from april-may 2008 with a much better performance. The gameplay is really good there for a alpha/beta? It includes also two discs marked as M58. My Tool/Test dont start on that discs. Win PC cant read discs, maybe crypted discs with source code? 1: Alpha June 2007 = Disc work on Test/Tool - Very low fps , different maps (2) , menu also different, 2: Alpha Nov 2007 = Disc work on Test/Tool - Very low fps , different maps (2) , menu also different, 3: Alpha May 2008 = Disc work on Test/Tool - fps OK gameplay much better, plays really good, 6 maps also Multiplayer function with PC interface! 4: Alpha May 2008 = Disc work on Test/Tool - fps OK gameplay much better, plays really good, 6 maps also Multiplayer function with PC interface! 5: Alpha April 2008 = Disc work on Test/Tool - fps OK gameplay much better, plays really good, 6 maps also Multiplayer function with PC interface! 6: looks like crypted disc... 7: looks like crypted disc... 8: empty DVD-R??? video footage follow soon...
What is the file extension for the "crypted disc"? By the way it is not M5 but MS which stands for Milestone.
Not a mac for sure since Steven has a mac and can't read the discs as well. Jackhead > if you open the cd with a burning software does it tell you that the media is empty?
My guess: maybe a RW format media that was erased, a damaged surface or simply a cd not burned properly and therefore not finalized. Encryption is possible as well, I have a couple of cds from the Climax archive that were encrypted and I had to crack them one at a time, which is a very long process but I was able to recover the data on all the cds Steven sent me. I already had a chat with Steven about this, I can recover the data on them in my lab. Once you are done with the cds let Steven know so the cds can be sent to my place.
Thanks for the videos Jackhead ! Steven sent me a bunch of Xbox 360 version of Elveon, to check them for him, as he don't have Debug Xboxes. In the lot, there was MS4, MS6, MS8 and MS10. I bought him two MS10 builds, in order to test the local LAN multiplayer mod included in these builds. MS8 discs where also white discs and there also were unreadable on my Xboxes test units. They weren't playable on my PCs two. I sent him back the discs, so I can't make more test on them. But it seems that they have been burned at the same time and by the same person.
Interesting is the compare from part2 and part 4. 1 year between both discs. @kennypecheur The MS4 for x360 is like the MS6 on PS3? What date have the build? You have a video?
Hello Jackhead, the MS4 was indeed close to the MS6, if I remember right. I need to find picts of the CD steven sent me. I also took video for him, I will try to upload them somewhere. Funny thing, the controller view showing how to play use the PS3 controller in the xbox version. So the ps3 version was maybe developped at bit before the xbox 360 version.
would be nice to see the ms4 x360 build to compare. I need to put the ms6 on hdd for bd-emu. I hope the performance is a bit better as from disc ^^. But really like the game, some kind of skyrim but more on action but still with crafting, not bad ...
The files that should be on some data that I cataloged are from 7/29/2009. Will be curious to see what is there when I get back to that.
Actually, by looking at the videos I have done, the MS4 disc contains Milestone 3 (MS3). So the writing on the disc says MS4 but the start screen says MS3. And the playable level in this build is a new one, and the character design of the playable character looks more like a medieval version of the green goblin from Spiderman haha. I have done quick screen shots of the character, I hope to have time to upload videos soon.
This is all very interesting, thanks for posting! I know I'm a bit late to the party here, but I have the XBox 360 version, problem is I have absolutely no idea what to do with the discs. I am a huge fan of Climax (who was going to help get this released) and have a decent collection of NES/Genesis protos and video of the game was impressive, so I snatched these up. I'd be happy to share some videos or what not if I could.
These must be the discs I now own lol. I saw the video on YouTube. I think I only own an Xbox One at this point.
And so just to finish my thread spam, I am happy to send my 360 discs to you to see if you can copy and dump. I'll be glad to let you keep a copy of the files if you'd do it for me. I'd also love to be able to play these, but from what I understand I need an XBox Dev kit?
