well its time for a change, not only that im sure its becoming very difficult and limiting for the team to keep using the same setup, its time to move onto something fresh, still i doub they would do it fps style, they only did that for metroid since it was another game they were developing and nintendo thought it would fit well with metroid so they converted it.
I have a theory on this, that it will be forward compatible with nice snazzy graphics for the revolutions launch, and slightly less snazzy graphics for GC.
Well the Metroid kind of underwent a similar "change" in style and whatnot when it came to GC, and lots of people seemed to like it so who knows. Personally, this announcement doesn't really bother me.
They did get Virtua Fighter Quest, Billy Hatcher, Crazy Taxi and a few other non-Sonic titles if I recall.
It's pretty hard to argue that Metroid was ruined with Metroid Prime. Most of the arguments against it come from 'purists' who have most likely never played it but are convinced that anything other than a 2D sprite-based Metroid is going to suck. I know, I used to be one. :smt043 Now Metroid Prime 2, however - the quality of THAT one is arguable.
I think this doesnt aplly to the actual situation. At the time, the N64 was the hottest piece of hardware, and the whole world was crazy for Mario64. Today most casual gamers dont know even if theres a zelda in the making....... About the change of the formula, I smell a Zelda Online after this. I think is goin to be the flagship revo title to demostrate its online capabilities. Fancy graphics and a PSO architecture, that would be cool Man, VFQ isnt a REAL VF, BtH was a complete flop and CT was yet another rehash. All the good stuff went to Xbox..........
Actually, it's a very simple argument: when they made Metroid an FPS, they switched genres. Those of us who do not like or play FPS games lost Metroid with the switch the same way non-MMO RPG players lost Phantasy Star when it went online. No, the sales do not reflect this accurately in either case, but the majority of those buying the games (particularly after the first sequel) are those who play the new genre, not the old one. And yes, I have played Metroid Prime (to completion) and it is just not the same experience.
Importaku, you own. Don't leave man, we need you around. We have already lost too many good posters :smt022 I really don't want to see this place over run with useless members.
I am coming down on ALL THIS BULLSHIT HARD. STOP PISSING OFF LONGTIME USERS IF YOU DONT PLAN ON POSTING SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE GO TO FUCKING IGN. I WILL REMOVE PEOPLE WHO CONTINUE TO PISS OFF PEOPLE.
WOW wow, Mario 128 it was never released on the cube, if I'm hearing miyamoto's comments right they've had this top secret mario game under development that wasn't being developed for the purpose of releasing it (mario 128) on the cube, but instead it's purpose has to be it is a tool for playing around with development and innovating things. Just start making this game and refine it forever and ever untill the the revolution is ready and use it as a prototype slash role model for revolution. Anything's possible, he said something about all aces talking about zelda, I think there are some left up his sleeve you know.
Newsflash # 1: Just because a game sells millions of copies doesn't mean a game is good. Case in point, State of Emergency. Newsflash # 2: Your last comment works both ways. Just because you like a game doesn't mean everyone else does. And not only that, but you outright flamed him. So really, you're the one in the wrong, and only contributing to these forums -- as you say -- going down the crapper. So seriously, lighten up -- these are games, afterall.
Heh, I thought SoE was actually a good game. Afterall, who doesn't want to use someone's decapitated head as a weapon? Those escort missions were a bitch though...
I hope this doesn't mean no 4-Swords for the DS. Four Swords on the Cube was, oddly enough, my favorite Zelda game of all time.
Looks like I was moderately Right on this one! http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3146578 Will be able to use the Revolutions controller! huzzah!
