    Also is there anything that a kiosk unit can do that a standard 3DS cannot do? I'm a bit behind the times...

    If you have a Gateway 3DS cart, then you can break the region lock :) Also yes, it can play NFR carts, otherwise it's the same software.

    Are you sure a regular 3DS can't play NFR carts? My understanding of the way the code signing mechanisms are set up is that there are only two options:

    1. 3DS that plays all dev-signed titles but no retail-signed titles.
    2. 3DS that plays all retail-signed titles but no dev-signed titles.

    My guess is that the NFR carts are signed exactly the same way as a retail cart would be, meaning that any retail PAL 3DS should be able to play these.

    All of the NFR carts I had worked fine on my retail unit. Granted, it was like 5 at the max.

    NFR work fine on my 3DS XL. It was a kiosk model but it works perfectly with retail, NFR and Panda carts.....

    Hmm. Are you using USA or EUR units? I tried both of the NFR carts and Smash Bros EUR cart I have in my 3DS XL and nothing happened like the cartridge slot was empty.

    Correct sir :) And I just worked in the stock room and I had an amazing manager so it was actually a blast, from what I can gather online I got lucky :p

    Hmm. Perhaps later software versions have eliminated the functionality? I will have to try it out. Or perhaps could be the cartridges.

    I picked it up already from him in a package deal with the 2DS... Looking forward to a matching set of kiosk units. Just wish I hadn't missed the NFR carts! :(
