I lost my gaming 'need' a few months ago after a serious bout of depression and financial stress, and since then have sold off a huge amount of my gaming / dev collection, and am slimming it down further week by week Now my most played console is the Wii (which is played by my wife and son more than anything), and my 360 has hardly been touched apart from the odd play of Lost oddessy or Burnout Paradise Suffice to say i have not looked back and have no regrets in selling off my gear, in fact i am much happier for having more money in my pocket to spend on the more important things in life (my family for one) as well as regaining my once full garage space which i am now slowly converting into a darkroom and photography studio
Towards the end of High School, I sold my three current gen consoles (PS2, Cube, and Xbox) as gaming was just descending into the same old, same old. I was no longer excited about upcoming releases, and hyped games came and went without me noticing or caring (eg Halo 2, etc). I had over a year and a half (maybe longer) of no games console and not playing games. I started playing multiplayer games with a friend again quite recently- and I found myself buying a DS in anticipation of the new Pokémon game (after remembering the good old days of Red and Silver, and the fantastic games they were!). And it's spiralled away from there again. I have a Micro and a Wii too, now, and also a new LCD TV to play the Wii on. Virtual Console has become an addiction and I'm building up a collection of DS and Gameboy games! Strangely though, the HD consoles just don't interest me. Sure, I enjoy a bit of Halo and Burnout round a friends, but I just couldn't see myself playing them alone. Retro interests me much more.
