will the everdrive Advance use a full sized gameboy case and just a pin switch for GBC mode and Advance mode? would leave alot of room for a cart label please dont discount my comments about the pin switch i have read that for the advance to use the z80 GBC processor the cart needs to go down far enough to touch some pins witch the advance cartilage is to short to reach those pins
slow down, he would just release 2 new flashcarts and you're asking for something that maybe will exist bus isn't confirmed yet.
i wrote out the "dont just discount my comment " more for people who might not know the advance has the GBC stuff built in and its not just a feature set of the Advance CPU
Its not a pin switch, its a physical mechanical switch inside the GBA cartridge slot which the original GB cartridge shape presses down, but GBA games dont press it as they have a groove at the side - you can even see it if you look in the GBA/GBA SP cartridge slot under a bright light. Your idea would also not be as simple as you make it sound as GB/GBC and GBA games run on completely different voltages - GB/GBC games run on 5V but GBA games run on 3.3V. I dont think what your asking is really possible...and im not even sure what the point would be? There are flash carts already available for the GBA that take microSD cards if you look around, but there are none available for the original GB/GBC which is what KRIKzz is working on.
do'h well my thinking was a direct compatibility but a mode enabled by shorting pins but now that i see its not just pins but a whole physical switch and voltage difference then thats not really possible
There must be millions of GBA flash carts still in circulation (that still work with modern OS), I can't imagine why he wants you to make another.
Appreciate the explanation! I'm on the fence for a GG cart, because the GG screens are just so lousy, almost impossible to play without cap replacement. As for GBA, I have that EZ Flash IV cart, which was fairly cheap ($40 US), and it runs all GB, GBC, and GBA games. There are similar for the DS I think. While loading GBA roms is pretty standard, any other systems, from Gameboy to Gameboy Color to Game Gear to NES to SNES to Genesis, requires you to download an "emulator"/file merger. That basically adds the emulation code to a file and then stacks on the roms. So Krikzz's cart will act more naturally in navigating the menu. Also, those EZ Flash's use mini-SD, which are a pain to find.
off about gg repair: i replaced two capasitors (0.47μ c55 and c54) on my GG and nomal brighnes is back
nice glad you got that sorted but you know you can replace the GG screen with a modern LCD there are some tuts on youtube you might even be able to use the modern replacement LCD for the nomad also on the GG dont quite quote me on that i think that because they are of simmaliar nature
These look great. Really happy to see a GG version. I suppose the market might be too small, but the NGPC is lacking such a device. Thankfully the games are cheap and plentiful though. Keep up the great work!
Just curious if the Master System Everdrive will be compatible with the games that were released on the Sega Card? Albeit, the Sega Card game list is kinda small. Link to list of games
Transbot and Spy vs Spy. I have a feeling that they will, though. But if you could test either one of these games or any in the link from my last post, that'll seal the deal on me purchasing one.
