I received mine today and it works great. One potential problem for others is that I had to dremel the Pro Wrestling cart casing where the everdrive passes through the cart pins on the bottom. The solder joints directly above the pins lined up directly with the plastic of the case and caused the case to bulge there without modification. I am not certain if this would cause other users to damage their everdrive or SMS if left unmodified. I noticed it because the cart slid rather tight into the Master System cart port and fixed it. Otherwise this is absolutely wonderful to have, thank you KRIKzz.
You sacrificed a Pro Wrestling cart to make your Everdrive? What were you thinking? Joking, obviously, though I do enjoy that game. I'm looking forward to getting mine. My donor will be either an extra Choplifter cart or a Great Baseball cart. Thanks for the tip about the solder joint issues. I'll see if I run across the same issue.
Choplifter and Great Baseball are two of my all time favorite Master System games. :-( I bought a cheap duplicate off Amazon, I own it complete also. We should talk about what you enjoy about Pro Wrestling though (and I saved the board). I have utterly failed to get into it in the past. I would be interested to know if I killed a perfectly good Pro Wrestling Cart for no reason. Please do report back if you run into the same trouble. It isn't the pins themselves. Some doodads soldered above the cart pins just hit the case perfectly on a very thin line of plastic at the bottom.
I think I liked playing it with a friend. It was easy enough to just pick up and play. Also, when I got the game, I seemed to dig wrestling games (though I wasn't into wrestling at the time, having given up on that when I was really young). I even really liked Battle Royale for the TG-16, even with its horrible, horrible controls. I'll be sure to post back here about my experiences with my cart. May be a while, though. There were a lot of carts bought in that group buy that need assembling
I consider Battle Royal an early party game with a wrestling theme. Good with five players, less remarkable with progressively fewer players. Pro Wrestling, I suppose, just put me off because it wasn't like Pro Wrestling on NES. I also bought Fire Pro Wrestling 2nd Bout on PCE and didn't like it because of its insane AI difficulty. On the cart pin solder joints and SMS cart casing, I will be very interested to know if this extends past more than one cart. I was also hoping to alert Krikzz to the possibility early enough to fix it.
I've got a few duplicates of duplicates that were SMS pack ins. Hang-On/Safari Hunt I've got 2 or 3 of for some reason.
Does anyone here know if the SMS Master Everdrive Flash cart will work on a japanese SG-1000 Mark III console? I read that Western cartridge-shaped games are incompatible with the Japanese cartridges because of the size of the plastic case, but is the pcb also different? Would it work if I use the Master Everdrive with no plastic case on a Mark III?
Japanese Mark III/SMS have a different PCB board than the rest of the world. You'd need a cartridge converter, which Tototek sold for pretty cheap. They are out of stock though.
so would be possible to use a converter plus the SMS Everdrive and get japanese rom work like mmm Ys? anyone has tried this out? what about with the FM compatibility? (since i.e. Ys is a game that use the fm synth)
casr not need adapter for run japanese games on US or EU systems. adapter need only if you use japanese systems. FM synth will be work on japanese systems because they have fm chip, on other world systems will not work
yeah, what i meant is that i want to play the original japanese rom on the japanese system to get the enached FM synt so to use the SMS Everdrive on Sega Mark III you only need this adapter? just a metter of pinout right?
i can't give a warranty until this not tested by me or by some other people, but i pretty sure that card will work fine via adapter on your japanese system
Just wanted to check to see if there are any updates about the Game Gear Everdrive. I assume the group buy along with the work that has been done on the N64 Everdrive is cutting into the development time.
stoneagegamer labels @Stoneagegamer - Are you going to be selling the custom label and case insert separately?
