As all the world know, Brazil mail sucks, so I'll have it in 2 months from now. I still didn't ordered mine, retrogate is out-of-stock with GG everdrive. I want to buy them together to reduce shipping costs. hey, Krikzz, when there will be more game gear everdrive for us ?
KRIKzz is there a folder limit on the GG everdrive? Because I've received mine today (OS V4 reflashed by myself to be sure), and I only see the very first of my GG game, but I see every sms game I have. I have a 2GB microSD, here is my folders: Root: OS, SMS and GG Inside OS: os files (they appear fine). Inside SMS: 27 Folders (#, A, B, C ...) with some games inside (they all appear and work fine and I can navigate folders). Inside GG: 27 Folders (#, A, B, C ...) with some games inside, only "Fun pack" appear (located inside #) I can't navigate folder, the game appear immediately when I select "GG" Folder. Maybe my microSD card is not correctly formatted?
The only information I can add here, don't know if this will be useful. Everdrive have a file per folder limit of 199 files. At least, for me.
Here's a bit of trivia I found re: FAT32 (the standard format for memory cards): http://help.lockergnome.com/windows2/file-folder-limits--ftopict450749.html I expect you have quite long file names if you're using the standard sets everyone seems to use, so it could be you've exhausted the maximum number of entries you can have.
Thank you for the answer, I'll try again tonight if I have some spare time and post the results (I 've only done quick format via panasonic sd formatter, this is maybe the problem, I'll try with windows formatter with full format).
My mistake: in that case you have 32,736 FAT entries which, in the worse case scenario means you may only have 2,518 files and directories available to you on FAT16, unless I've interpreted what was said incorrectly. However, that wouldn't explain how you can get the files onto the card in the first place. I don't see how the 200 files limit is important to the conversation, as it's directories that have gone missing, not files within a directory. EDIT: Oh, sorry - I didn't spot indask8's comment. Just ignore me.
If you have the panasonic sd formatter its better to do a full format with that, since its better suited for SD cards than the built in windows formatter.
Maybe I gather some info here. There reason why (probably) you have to format SD card in evedrive is probably windows format that does not format by default in FAT16 but in FAT32. So to avoid confusion Krik wrote format option in everdrive. If you know what to do you don't need format in everdrive. You can format in standard windows tool with options: FAT and 16 kb block. I tested this in windows 7. I see all files and all (32X, SMD, SMS) directories. Also in every directory I see all files (biggest dir. - SMD has 169 files). BUT when I received both SNES and SMD cards I format both cards first in PC then in everdrives and... It didn't work ! During copying message at about 80 files I've received message that I cannot copy any more file. When I put card in everdrive I've noticed that about only 46 files I can see and no more. I've format again strictly with instruction and this time make some subdirectories but again in each directory I've seen also first 43 to 46 files and no more. That's why I decided to do my own format and I succeded.
I'm back from work, I ended up trying windows full format (FAT16) and it worked perfectly. I can browse every files I have on my GG everdrive now.
Hey KRIKzz, retrogate still don't have the game gear everdrive Out of stock, will it be available anytime soon ?
This is probably a strange one... Is it possible to play some SMS on the EverdriveGG, then pop the same flash memory card into the EverdriveMD (via adapter) and continue playing your SMS games with the same save files? If not, would it work in the SMS?
genesis flashcart and emulators use not same data format as sms. need to crop each second byte for port save file to sms, and add dummy bytes for port save from sms to md
