If you guys don't want to cut up a snes cart, and want everything nice and tidy inside with no holes, no need to hunt down a rs-mmc memory card... (they are quite hard to find where I am)

Just cut an SD card in half! That's what I did, it fit perfectly, and now I have a super clean everdrive cartridge. (Many SD cards chips only take up half the sd card casing!)

Also, in case anyone is wondering, yes the super everdrive works with a supaboy (hyperkins new snes clone portable).

This might be dangerous with some SD cards (if the flash chip takes the entire place inside the SD)...

Yeah I would only try this if you know for sure. Some SD cards use transparent plastic or the plastic is so thin that if you hold up to the light you can see where the chip is.

The majority of recently manufactured SD cards use half-size chips, especially SD cards that come from "brand name" companies.

This is a really nice one that is perfect:
SanDisk 2GB ULTRA II SD Secure Digital Card (SDSDH-002G
    )

Plus, it's less than $10. Have some balls and cut one up. ;)

Then how would you ever update the card if you wanted to? It will get stuck in almost any SD card reader there is.

I outsmarted the card readers that were trying to eat my half sized card by attaching a little pull tab made of electrical tape to the cut SD.

I dont know if it has already been discussed, but is it possible to create an improved interface (more or less like ed64) for the snes everdrive ? Is it a matter of technical limitation or work ? I guess everyone noticed that the actual one is pretty... hmmm..ugly lol (sorry Krikzz ;))

Does it matter if its pretty? The question is: does it work? Its probably more a matter of priorities. Making the SNES interface pretty I am sure is not tops on the priority list.

I am not against making interfaces nicer, but I think a big reason he did it on the ED64 was because that was a knock against it from the 64drive "community". "64drive is better because its interface looks nicer!"

It does not really matter, and as you told SED works great, it was just for it to be even greater ;)

And an Action replay / Game Genie support would be nice too :)

It could be done. You have 16 mbit for OS including reserve.

I'd be willing to see what I could do if Krikzz was willing to provide C/65816 source code for the OS. Some BGs, maybe some HDMA effects (probably not enough RAM if SPI to flash is double buffered, and knowing Krikzz I'm sure it is). What graphics mode is used? Font = BG tiles or sprites? Font rendering and tile set might have to be completely revamped switching over to a more colorful display mode.

Keep in mind though N64 is a full RGB true color device, while the SNES is not only a 8 bit palleted device, but also less than 1/4 the resolution. You will never get the smooth anti aliased multi color "shiny" gradiant fonts on the SNES like the N64. Sub pixel rendering of font tiles might help, but it wouldn't make a difference for 99% of people without RGB monitors and SCART cables where it would be crushed by composite encoding anyway.

Best you might see are some scrolling bgs, some music, etc like a small intro loop running in the background.

Hmm dropping a Final Fantasy IV menu style border and BG behind the existing text layer and some drop shadowed text might be a good simple start. Give me some time to digest this. I haven't worked on SNES in forever.

This could be a very nice idea, btw I was not meaning to be as good as on the N64 but I was thinking about old copiers menus like Super Wild Card and Profighter that I got in the past ;)

    Thanks for your interest !

Debating getting Super Everdrive. SD2SNES is neat but likely not for me. PowerPak is a maybe alternative.
Does it only support up to 2GB?
I don't think anyone would ever need that outside of a developer but just wondering cause you can get bigger ones for just as cheap with 2gb going away but if they don't work in S-ED its no good.
And do the higher transfer rate classes make much of a difference?

Is there any trick to getting the PCB in a shell or is it as easy at it sounds? Just buy the bit or do the pen tip mold trick to unscrew.
The SD card slot is just a notch approx an inch wide in the back half of the cart.

I already got the Everdrive 64 from retrogate and it was already $114 so adding the extra 15 didn't seem like much.

With the S-ED it is under $100 without the universal shell. For the $15 I could buy a game and I want to paint it purple to go with the deformed twin that is the US SNES.

What is the slot next to the SD card slot used for? On the barebones PCB there isn't anything on there, just wondering what goes on there and what is it for?

    Thanks
