Marty and Lynx...WTF? Stacks of quality on both. The more I delve into the Gamate, the more I believe this could be a contender. (certainly the only one mentioned thus far imo..although Game.com comes very close)
Have you played a Lynx? Slime World Warbirds Blue Lightning Battle Wheels California Games.... That's just scratching the surface...There's about a zillion awesome arcade ports too... Edit: I also think we should consider RDI Halcyon. Laser games suck. Seriously.
Pokemon mini has both shock tetris & togepi's adventure, both stunning games considering the limited technology its on. In fact out of the 10 games released for it 8 are worth owning
I haven't played Boomzoo, but I spent some time with the puzzle game. I don't think either of those would be considered "good" on any other platform, anyway - they're just good by comparison to the rest of the dross on there, at which point your statement becomes "every platform has some games that are better than others", which is kind of redundant.
Warioland on the VB is awesome, but I like Vertical Force a lot too. The music is great, also. Don't be hatin' on the VB, yo. I also understand or have heard that the Marty had quite decent shooters (and some neat eroge), did it not? While I agree with the fact that there are decent games in every system, I'm curious about the Pippin too. Was Burn Cycle on the CDI any good? I sort of remember reading a good review of it on EGM back in the day. Hell, even the Jaguar had good games, did it not? Doom and AvP and Raiden at least.
I only say Virtual Boy because while the games might be good by their selves, the console on which they are played cripples the experience thus making them not good/great games.
Damn you're right. I miss those days when I used to spend hours and hours playing Chip's Challenge and Gates Of Zendocon on the Lynx... I had some other games but with the exception of those two and Shangai (or however it was called, I can't remember right now :110 they horribly sucked.
I remember Alien vs. Predator on the Jaguar being quite atmospheric and a rather decent game. Anything worth playing on Amstrad's absolutely awesome GX 4000? :110:
Oh, this is risky territory. You're just going to get a load of personal opinions - a lot of these people probably haven't played ALL the games on the system they suggest, so aren't really qualified to comment! Game.com had... umm... well... uhh.... oh - the solitaire was good! Gamate had Brick Blaster, which was an OK Arkanoid style game. Granted, it wasn't a great system, but you can't say every game was unplayable. GX4000 wasn't too bad, really. Much like an Amstrad CPC. It had a version of Pang that was fine. Even Burning Rubber was playable, although it is very basic and annoying now. I think the main argument is a good one - every video game system has at least one game that is, or at least was in its time, playable and good. Many of these are still playable today, as long as you're not a spanky graphics whore. It is all about the gameplay!! Are there any good, complete M2 games, though?
I think it's safe to say every system has a "good" game. But a "great"/"must-play"... that's a different story entirely. Most of the games stated aren't the definitive version of the game. Tetris on CD-i - I'd say the GameBoy version is the best version. Wofenstein - um, PC? Warioland - It might be good, but there's a lot better 2D (3D??) platformers out there. Marathon - Play it on the 360. Anyways, it does just come down to personal opinion. I think Shadowrun is a great game but everyone outside of my circle of friends thinks otherwise.
that's because the skill gap is too large, also i've found people tend to just regurgitate reviews they see -_-' anyway yeah, every system has a good game? hm maybe. I DID have some fun on the skateboarding game on the Cybiko I had a lot of fun playing Wario on VB. But when i stopped playing, everything red POPPED out, like in 3D. It was WEIRD. and my high school had a lot of Red crate paper on the walls as backing for like, pictures of stuff. ...it was interesting going to my next class
I played 'Raiden' to death on the Lynx, so I would say that was the one title I'd mention to defend this theory! Although, I don't know where the Amstrad GX4000 fits in this theory. Shit in every sense of the word.
