A lot of power metal sounds pretty good to my ears, but I'm with Antipasta on the lyrics, as well as the vocals. Everyone that isn't accustomed to metal immediately jumps on the growling/screaming/whatever and refuses to listen to any more of it. For me, it's the exact opposite in the case of power metal - it's just kind of corny. Of course, I can completely understand why many people shrug off metal, as for the most part it's not at all accessible. I hated Between the Buried and Me before I saw a live video of them playing in Charlotte. The lyrics are all over the place with those guys, though.
I understand what you're saying, I like power a lot but I get bored very quickly with lots of bands (including DF). When we're talking about power, I prefeer Blind Guardian's early albums than symphonic/power bands like Rhapsody or Stratovarius, for example. I'm a lot more into heavy, thrash (I have tickets for Exodus next November ) and prog metal, but I respect everyone's choice anyway.
Rubbish. I've seen them 3 times, each time they've been fantastic - Which is why I'm going a 4th time next month!
Wow, that's great news for me, I'd really like to see them live. It's kind of difficult to me to imagine how can they perform a whole live concert with that speed (I mean, if I was the drummer I'd fall unconscious after playing through the fire and flames )
Valley of the Damned is my favorite Dragonforce song. I heard that song on mp3.com back in 9th grade. I just thought it was amazing. Their newer stuff is alright but Valley is just soooo epic.
