When it comes to capitalism and business I tend to believe in the “survival of the fittest" mindset. And while it goes against just about everything I believe in when it comes to business even I think Wal-Mart should be chopped into 5 or 6 different retail chains. This is merely the latest reason.

That wouldnt do shit, they can reinforce one of the chains more than the other, making it the "new" wal-mart and let the others to rot in darkness.

Walmart is simply destroying the country's remaining industries, helping others going outside and leaving the working class without a job.

Plus the “survival of the fittest" only works in theory, cuz in any economical model (capitaism, socialism, comunism) it doesnt mathers who's the best, but who has the best contacts.

    Take for example:

The diesel engine and fuel are way ahead of normal gas in both power and eficiency, yet we use the latter, why? cuz that guy Diesel (hence the name) almost got shot by the oil and car industry cartels at the time.

Also there was this Tucker guy who made a car back in the 50s and it was way ahead of its time. Ford, GMC and others hired several senators to destroy his company from the start (there's a good movie about this story)

MS dominates the PC market, not because windows is the best but because of their contacts in the PC industry and government, and their mafia-like actions against anyone who dares to compete against them.

The only way the “survival of the fittest" could work is in an enviroment free of illegal influences...

You guys should be hating the money grubing game companies for selling out to wal mart, i mean why dont they develop low cost games and sell them on ebay, or out of there trunks, afterall its about the games right?...right?...mabye its about the money first and the games second...cmon guys wal mart is just sitting there, no one is FORCED!!! to sell anything there.

As for the cheap crap they sell, they are supposed to be in the process of selling more exspensive, less cheap stuff... Would you think wal mart still an evil company if they sell a 24ps dish set for 120$ instead of 19.99 even though its still made overseas..im betting no. It would be ....(they sell fine imported dinnerware).LOL

Yes, wal mart makes it easy for people to be greedy...but that is up to them. They dont have to sell there.

The link should instead be about how all the major developers are selling out and how they need to be keeping it real with the gaming community.

BIG GAME BOXES AND WAL MART. THEY ARE KILLING TREES!!!....sounds like a scoop. stop the presses.

Well the problem is they do: since the internet bubble burst, walmart dominates the retail of practically everything...

Lets say you make lamps: if you dont sell it in Walmart that may cut from 20% to 60% of your sales (either case, is a big-ass chunk).

But if you want to sell it in walmart they may want you to change the packaging, the colors, and even the profit you would receive (so they can get a bigger cut).

Yeah corporations are anything but not democratic...

You don't sell to wal-mart, every single pice of inventory that wal-mart has is not payed for. It is a on payed by sell bases.

Thank goodness, we have ALDI, and "arschlecker"(Slechker is the real name) here, and two big Danish chains. and still economy is still evil here. And Mærsk MCKinney Møller is selling pirate famiclones, with real 101 in one game cartridges, where most of the games are Contra, and many other VERY commercial old games. On that cartridge. Through the chain called BILKA. So the evil is evil. And by the way the person I mentioned by name controlls Denmark in the economic way, and the politicians are licking his arse, when it is nessesary, and one time one of his BILKA stores was illegal (because of the size), and our supreme court hammered down , and said the center should be destroyed etc. because it was illegal, but then the rich motherfucker Mærsk said to the prime motherfucking minister, that he wanted that building to be legal and so forth, and the PM he took the case to one of his other ministers , and made the building "legal" , when the Danish Surpreme court has just hammered down and said it was illegal ?

So I know the kind of corruptness around here in my country.

We have Aldi's here, but they're just cheap crap most of the time. They usually don't have any decent groceries, and what they do have is usually very near the expiration date.

I go to school in central Illinois and let me tell you that Wal Mart is life to these trashos around here .

I live in the chicagoland area so I never really noticed that Wal Mart was a big deal , because the upper middle class doesn't really shop their .

Then bamm I was plopped in central Illinois and actually realized what Wal Mart is doing to America . Since it is a Wal Mart super center it has everything from a barber to a full auto service shop . And it is sad to see the old business owners working in these pathetic attempts at duplicating real American business . And you realize that this one store drove hundreds of other places out of business because the majority of America is full of complete retards that only care about saving a Buck and could give a shit about their local economy till it hits home and they lose their job . And then are forced to work a minimum wage position with no room for growth .

Here is a fun fact that I learned in class that Wal-Mart is Chinas 8th largest exporter . And that is on a list comprised of countries , not businesses .

Case and point FUCK WAL-MART ! Stop shopping there and they will go away .

If you haven't figured it out yet, Wal-Mart is THE proverbial 800 pound gorilla of the business world. If you don't sell to Wal-Mart, you're still trying to keep up with Wal-Mart efficiancy. And if you are not selling to Wal-mart and they want your product, they will approach you and ask you to make a cheaper version of your product to sell in their stores just to get your brand name in there (Levi Strauss for example). They sell cheap useless crap that is not meant to last like a real quality product. Because of this, we as Americans have turned into a disposable society instead of buying quality products. Wal-mart will even tell you HOW to make a cheaper product (outsourcing, offshoring mainly) if they want you bad enough.

If you want a quick buck, but have no long term stability, sell your product to and pray at the altar of Wal-mart.

Neither have I and the few times I stopped in to check and see, nothing for sale was any cheaper. I found walmart does not get people to buy stuff based on price, its about availability.

I once had a buisness trip to negotiate a contract with some school officials. Thier office was in the middle of nowhere, all I saw were factory/commercial buidlings and homes. I needed to pee badly and I was also a little thirsty. Guess what, the only place I could accomplish those two tasks was at a walmart. There were no fast food chains or any other retail stores for 20 miles. Walmart just takes over and you then have no where else to shop. Nothing in the store is really any cheaper than it would be TARGET, KMART or SEARS.

    Nice way to put it!

The last game I bought at my local WalMart was Zelda 64: Ocarina of Time. I don't really see the need of buying games there anymore. On the other hand, I find it great for shopping for sportswear and groceries. I wouldn't consider our local WalMart "dirty" as how some others are putting it that way.

Split Walmart? What good would it do? Nothing. Go look at AT&T and Standard Oil. AT&T is one merger away from being whole again, and Standard Oil looks like it's a few mergers away as well.

Don't like Walmart? Don't shop there. I don't because it's too far (gas money) and the savings aren't that great.

Plus, their game selection sucks. ^_~

Hmmm lovely little comment :) and hi there Kitty :)

Well I don´t hate the chain Bilka, I eat there alot (good and healthy lunch), and buy croceries , and sometimes other things there too. I just hate the rich man in Denmark behind it. Because he is a rich bastard. Who has done more bad, than good to Denmark.

Spoken like a true social parasyte, thank goodness you don´t live in my part of the world, then you couldn´t cheat your way around that. Since the law says, you need to have the guarantee certificate, and the reciept, to proove you had bought it there.

nah, here in the us "the costumer is always right" so just ask them if you can talk to the manager, tell him you lost it and he'll give you a brand new ps2 with a brand new laser that will die within a year.

I used to work for Wal-Mart before moving back over here to Belgium.God was it was the most fun ! ever had at a job.I was the only person on the night mantinace crew that had a full set of teeth. They were a cool bunch a guys but they were lifers for that company. And yes white trash.

i once had this one chick that worked the night shift at the 7 Eleven i would go to for my smokes,Come in and caught her running a scam to gank some jeans.needless to say I turned a blind I to the whole thing and she got off with the jeans. Then I got free smokes up untill the time I left Oregon.

I guess that was my way of sticking it to the man.
