The more trusting the treat you the more likely you are to shop there, or so they'd believe, their profit margins are more then large enough to totally swallow a few people abusing the system.

if you hate walmart or what it is or isn't selling, dont fucking shop there..it's called a free market. They didn't put smaller shops out of business or dictate what products to produce at what cost, consumers do. If masses of people want their walmart to stock cheap, low quality LCD tv's and endless sport games, what's the problem? Go somewhere else.

Exactly. Go ahead and pay more for something you could've payed 50% less at wal-mart. I buy some things at walmart, some of my food, hygiene products, etc. The only thing I really don't buy there is produce and meat is simply because the produce I eat is more expensive at their store than it is at the local Publix supermarket and they do not have a big selection as well.

The reason Wal-Mart can be influential in the production of a game is because they know what will sell in their store. They are in-fact helping the publisher MAKE MONEY and since walmart is a very large retailer that is really the only way the publisher can make back the money they put into making the game is if their game is sold in their store. And that is what it all boils down to, money. But isn't supposed to be only about the game? fuck no. You need money to buy your food, feed your family, keep a roof over your head, that sort of thing. Developers are people, too, they need money to eat and if their game isn't sold in walmart nowadays than there is a good chance they won't see a lot of money coming in to pay for their food and cost of living. So what if Wal-mart says that you should change some content, they don't tell you to change the whole fucking game, just some color and textures and that's it. They only do it based on statistics from their stores showing what type of games, for each age group, sells the most. They also don't want to create controversy based on what type of games sell.

Besides. The only game that was banned from Walmart was BMX XXX but that was because the gameplay, and solely the gameplay revolved around exploiting women.

That is up to the company, not walmart, if they want to use inferior materials to create their product and sell it cheaper. They will not force companies to use inferior products just so that they can carry it in their store. Walmart is a great consultant when it comes to creating an efficient manufacturing process so that products cost less to produce but overall quality isn't sacrificed and thus it can be sold cheaper. We still use the same 32inch TV we bought from Walmart over 5 years ago and does not give us problems. As for clothes, their selection and styles have greatly improved in walmart, you really can't tell the difference between 'walmart' clothes and department store clothes anymore except for the explicit name brands like JNCO, Nike. The same Levis Jeans bought in Walmart are of the same quality found in Sears and JCPenny. But keep in mind that Levis does not make their jeans themselves. They contract textile companies in southeast asia to produce their jeans. So if Levis hires a company who ends up making low quality jeans, its levis's fault, not walmart's fault.

Walmart does make an effort in making sure that their products are produced in clean environments and that the manufacturer of the product does not dispose of hazardous wastes inappropriately that violate Walmarts standards and ethics policies. They make sure that the workers are not treated like slaves. Whereas companies like JC Penny, Sears and clothing stores in your local mall do not look into those things. They do not have company policies that say that the clothes they carry were not made sweatshops. Walmart is also starting to implement environmental measures to help cut down use of unrenewable resources. For example, Walmart is planning on implementing solar panels on their roofs of their stores to help in powering their parking lot lamps and other electrical s ystems in their stores to cut down on their electric bill thus reducing the amount of coal or oil that is burned in the electric plant, and thus that helps the environment because of less greenhouse gases being emmitted into the air.

Walmart is also making measures to start carrying organic and naturally grown foods in their stores and sell them at a much cheaper price than at stores in Whole Foods Market which is really a supermarket store for the rich. This really interests me because I'm into those types of foods and if they do carry the foods I usually buy at specialty markets at a slightly cheaper price than I will buy those foods there.

Walmart has changed from being nothign but a redneck store to something even upper middleclass people go to to shop for their basic items. My local walmart does not look anything like a trashy big lots store. Everythign in there is well kept and clean. It is mainly because of its location.

In conclusion. Don't shop at walmart if you dont like their store. I respect your opinion on why you choose not to. This is just my opinion on why I sometimes buy things at Walmart and to show some of the things walmart does that some other popular retailers don't do. It's not like I'm a walmart junkie. I only go there once or twice every month.

I'm pretty sure you will not see Sharper Image like products in walmart because it really isn't like walmart to sell such things. They only sell things the general consumer will need to buy. And you definitely won't see Ethan Allen furniture in their store or Banana Republic clothing. There are somethings walmart can carry and somethings it can't.

I dont have anything against Wal-Mart, really. I think they actually have a better selection of older PC games than most game related stores.

Sometimes you can actually find better deals than the ones at Wal-Mart, though.

Anyways, I've to agree with the other guy, and that is, the only way to defeat wal-mart is stop buying there.

I have no problem what so ever with Wal-mart, some items they carry are cheaper, and to be honest I will not stop shopping there due to some late tree hugging hippie views of fighting the system.
