Not sure if this has been talked about on here before, but I thought it was pretty interesting. Apparently F-Zero AX is on the F-Zero GX disc and can be activated through Action Replay. I don't know how much of the AX data is left, but it appears to be very playable. Looking through the comments in the video, it seems that GX files are also hidden inside AX. The codes to activate AX are listed on the cutting room floor: http://tcrf.net/F-Zero_GX NTSC-U: 61TA-AXPK-UAV9E EHJV-6U30-2DTVE NBCW-U1NV-0JDJG HK7K-0RFW-FNQ8Y PF4U-P5D0-862X1 7HUZ-2PJY-J5TTU Q7PM-1678-XE7FW YW2J-AUVE-R79V8 T6UV-03PE-1H26C R91R-1A6J-ZXN30 1GHM-VQ7W-7HBWW PAL: Z60V-MZG0-VRAQ2 3DFJ-55T9-J5J7P NBCW-U1NV-0JDJG HK7K-0RFW-FNQ8Y PF4U-P5D0-862X1 9D4X-PVXV-R3FNV Q7PM-1678-XE7FW UAB4-HZ2F-AW6X5 T6UV-03PE-1H26C BN71-WCD5-DYDNW FHW5-F3D3-B2UZ5 NJR5-FE19-GQ851 5FRQ-P6M4-096F3 85KV-QPJD-4U999 VXM8-U9Y8-URZPR VZFH-H43M-5N6E3 G71V-JPGY-BPDDZ GUZD-V5KT-UBKA8
I have no idea. I'd try it out but I don't have an AR for Gamecube and the Wii homebrew AR app doesn't want to work for me. Does anyone know how to patch AR codes to an iso? EDIT: To clarify, I own a retail copy of the game. I know I could convert the codes to a different format and use another homebrew code app, but I would rather just modify the iso directly if possible so I can have a backup copy that boots straight to AX. For me it's much more convenient that way.
No. That video shows cars the code doesn't activate. When using this code clean you get just five cars. The famous SNES four, and one custom. It also shows widescreen mode. Which the code won't do either.
Pre-patched ISO would be awesome. Might work with Wii cheats in a loader... Here is some information on the "hack": http://tcrf.net/F-Zero_GX
For some reason the PAL code on that page is considered invalid by US Action Replay 1.06. Though I don't own that game version, it shouldn't matter since its code version wasn't accepted. Unless the PAL Action Replay or newer US ones are fine.
Hmm, so how long before "reproductions" of F-zero AX for GC start floating around? Pretty cool stuff though. I wish more devs would just leave goodies like this on the discs.
It wouldn't be worth it. This lacks much of what makes AX distinctive. Title screen, license card, insert coin...
After that, you play the game. You'll find a few arcade games are not as fun as they are at home on your console. However, if you feel like a quick race on F-Zero I'd surely be up for AX.
I've always wanted to play AX, and as someone who never managed to find a local AX machine back in the day, this is the next best thing as far as I'm concerned.
Well, the thing is a lot of the people who buy repros of hacks and unreleased games don't actually get around to playing them! Isn't the real game emulated now, anyway? Maybe one day, we'll see an unreleased Mario Kart Arcade GP port for Gamecube.
That's a cool discovery. I was in Japan when they did the location test for AX at Shinjuku Sports Land. The hydraulic cabinets were awesome. Still have my license card somewhere...
It's not that difficult. I don't generally play racing games but this one I finished on the hardest difficulty.
Won't happen, you can't burn a self booting GameCube backup and it will require a modchip. Nobody will be fooled by it in the least.
The code works perfectly in Dolphin emulator. But speaking of emulation we're very close to get real F-Zero AX dump properly emulated.
Intresting found on f-zero gx, this is the alternate way to play the ax version but would be nice to get full code (dumped of f-zero ax) as for now it work very well.
