Microsoft have cancelled development of Fable Legends and are in discussions to close Lionhead Studios, according to Microsoft Studios Europe's General Manager, Hanno Lemke. Lionhead was founded in 1996 by Peter Molyneux and Steve Jackson (co-founder of Games Workshop). Jackson left when Microsoft bought the company 10 years later, whilst Molyneux left in 2012 after completing Fable: The Journey. http://www.polygon.com/2016/3/7/11172408/fable-legends-canceled-lionhead-studios-closing It's sad to see a long-standing British studio facing closure, rather than celebrating 20 years in the industry.
"These changes are taking effect as Microsoft Studios continues to focus its investment and development on the games and franchises that fans find most exciting and want to play."
Gotta love PR phrases like that one. How about just say, "Quantum Break is seriously over-budget, so we had to make up the losses somewhere!"
Personally, I never understood why Microsoft paid Peter Molyneux when he hasn't made anything good since about 1997. Lionhead's whole output was mediocre at best.
Does it make this console by Microsoft for Lionhead Studios even more collectable? You are bidding on an ultra-rare fully custom Xbox ONE by Microsoft. Just 20 were made to celebrate the release of Fable Legends XBOX ONE . This console was donated to GAME from Microsoft in support of Special Effect. Includes kinect and comes with 2 Xbox One wireless controllers – one mirrors the artwork on the console and has the metallic-effect emerald green finish on the rear, the other has the metallic-effect emerald green finish all over the controller. This console is not available at retail and all proceeds from the sale will go to SpecialEffect.
Other than you being a massive Sony fanboy since deciding to buy a Sony console - could you please elaborate? The console is pretty good, its doing pretty well (even if the PS4 is outselling them). The backlash over the digital ownership was over the top - the digital purchases are pretty good on the system and if everyone hadnt freaked out - would have been better, by being able to let friends borrow your games etc. This is not much different than the 360 vs ps3, except the 360 outsold the PS3 everywhere except Japan (which if you take the japanese sales out of the picture, the sales numbers gap is much higher). No one was saying the PS3 was doomed. Infact, bringing backwards compatibility for 360 games without having to pay for a remaster (hello Sony/PS4) - has surely given it a boost, rather than going against it. Id like to see some facts to backup the statement.
Just becuase you're accusing me of fanboyism, I'm not answering. Especially when I've said I want an XBONE.
Microsoft is finally starting to unite their Windows and XBONE platforms, so if anything, things are looking better for the XBONE. Some of their XBONE exclusives are going to PC, which is helping Microsoft's reputation among PC gamers. The cross-platform play/saves function is a great implemenation that will unite XBONE and PC players. In terms of current or soon-to-be-released PS4 versus XBONE exclusives, the XBONE has a better line-up. Sunset Overdrive, RARE Replay, Forza, Halo 5, Quantum Break, D4, Cuphead, Ryse: Son of Rome, etc. While this will change opnce the PS4 starts getting FFVII: Remake, Shenmue III, Uncharted 4 and The Last Guardian, for right now XBONE has a decent amount going for it.
How about who cares, just enjoy whatever you have. I don't even think there are words for how petty 'console x vs console y' arguments are.
