I think in the case of the US it's become a sort of linguistic thing, it's like the mos commonplace sentence you will hear about the US. I don't think all the people who use it, actually believe there's a god. It's become a saying...

But there has been and there still is christian fundamentalism.

To me, honestly, any kind of fundamentalism, whether it's christian, catholic, jewish, hindi, muslim or wiccan, is just an aberration.

The same thing goes for political fundamentalism

 

Im not talking about America,but if the US had old testament laws in our government for example then this place would be in the dark ages.
