An interesting one for you. A friend brought me his Xbox to repair because the hard drive had failed and was clicking. On opening it, the hard drive had a sticker on saying it had tested failed 14 days before the machine was manufactured. The machine’s manufacture date is 2002-02-27. Have you seen this before and any ideas what any of it means? [GALLERY=media, 2649]DBF93340-4C50-452A-A02F-86A198B4E0AE by mikeyp posted Mar 23, 2018 at 6:14 PM[/GALLERY]
My guess is that there was some sort of failure during initial testing, but it couldn't be reproduced so they just shipped it - but left the label on it so that if the unit came back for repair it would be flagged as a potential failure area. Since it appears to have continued working for about 17 years past the time it was installed, I doubt there was any real problem with it.
Never seen that before, myself. That is interesting. Make sure you remove the clock capacitor while you're in there.
Way ahead of you, already done. This is the cleanest xbox I've ever seen. No dust in it whatsoever and the cap hadn't leaked... Yet. I'd guess it's been in a clean house and hasn't been used too much.
