I am so glad Nintendo has decided to release 8 of the 10 Famicom Mini games on US soil (Star Soldier and Bomberman are the two left out) - I know what with import prices, I'm going to be preordering Zelda, Ice Climber, and Excitebike. I just hope the packaging looks different in the end - is it too much to hope for to get stuff like what the current Famicom Mini line has? Also, the NES GBA should be interesting - I still like my Famicom Mini, but that one has an interesting look to it as well. I wonder if there is going to be any design on the top?

Oh, and they should make the power light red on the system, and make the light flash while the screen goes from blue to black when the system first starts up, instead of the Gameboy logo.... (couldn't resist that one.... :smt040

I cant help but wonder why you guys want more recycled sh1t for GBA. If you think FC boxes are beautiful, why not buy the Famicom games? If they start releasing FC games for GC for $50 each would you buy that crap? Even for $20 a pop, a $0.19-Funcoland-Super-Mario-Bros is not worth that. Don't even mention collectability, I'll go off on that too. LIMITED EDITION DOESN'T MEAN SH1T IN AMERICA. To me it seems that GBA consumers are just plain retarded. If retarded things like this sell, this is all Nintendo is going to put out.

  8. Woo hoo! I'm retarded!! And that means that Importaku is also! And a few others on this board! Yes!!

Kyuusaku, it's cool if you're not into something - just don't be an asshat about it. A lot of people love the idea of old classics cleaned up (or in this case, not cleaned up) and released on a portable system. For me, it's about the only reason I own a GBA. If you don't get it, fine, then it's not for you. Don't go around slinging insults at all those who don't line up to your way of thinking. We're all a little older than that here, I think...

And on a completely different note, if anyone is wanting any of the US ones and you're out of country, I can help. ^__^ Granted, it's a ways off, but just in case anyone is interested...

Ok it's settled, I'm buying the entire set as soon as I can get my hands on it. Oh and that SP better have some kind of special looking top because the concept pic looks like they just slapped a sticker overlay onto a platium SP.

Its just sad how unimaginitive the industry has become. 1/10 things now isn't a remake or sequal.

I would love to get a Flash linker thign and use pocket NES (only with games I own, ofcourse ^_^) But the sets cost too much for what they let you do (at least with these GBA re-releases they are official). On a side note, If anyone knows anywhere to buy a cheap GBA FLash linker kit thing, Please let me know ^_^

I am not a handheld person but I might have to pick this one up. What's with the games though. Where's the Metroid? Where's the Kid Icarus? Where's the Punchout and Castlevania? Contra and Sunday Funday? Well maybe not Sunday Funday but you get the idea. I hope it has the black stripe as well.

  18. Sorry A. Snow, but right now the game list is almost the same as the Famicom Mini one in Japan - Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong, Legend Of Zelda, Excitebike, Xevious, Ice Climber, Pac-Man, and Bomberman - we're not getting Mappy or Star Soldier. This is just the tenative list, however, and with the things not coming out until June or July, there's time for revisions. Or maybe, depending on how the sales go here, Nintendo may release a second wave of the game. In any case, I'd LOVE to see Kid Icarus on the Gameboy, and I really hope they put it there. Metroid I'm not sure if they are going to release, seeing as the original Nintendo one is playable on Animal Crossing, Metroid Prime, and Metroid Zero Mission. No word on Punchout, but it's "spiritual successor" is out on GBA in the form of Hajime No Ippo: The Fighting, a fun little pugalism sim from Treasure. Castlevania already has a decent line on Gameboy, so that one might be a possibility. Sunday Funday I've never heard of, and there's a Japanese GBA Contra game that is a port of the SNES one.

It looks like it has some big cheapass sticker on it, just like those ugly psx,ps2,xbox mod stickers (you know what I mean). I hope it looks better in real life. I like the Famicom version better...

And I agree with Kyuusaku (not with the retarded thing ;-) ). It's ridiculous to pay 20 bucks for a recycled game. Don't get me wrong, I like the GBA, I like these games, they are cool to play. But Nintendo tends to re-release lotsa SNES titles for the GBA. And now they are starting with the NES titles and they are asking a lot of money for it :p They should give em away for free! :smt023 :smt033

  20. Well, like I said, this isn't for everybody. I mean, I have no problem whatsoever with Nintendo re-releasing old NES or SNES titles - touched up or not - on GBA, it's one of the main reasons I own it. Just my personal opinion, but with some of their latest original offerings on both GBA and GC, they'd do well to keep rehashing the hits of yesteryear. :smt019

And I suppose I don't understand what the big deal is about the $20 price tag. True, you can get most of these games for between $1 and $10 - on the NES. Which isn't portable at all, unless you have a gianormous Hong Kong clone dealie. And if I remember, the original games retailed for something close to $40, so it's not like they're attempting to charge the same price for it. And not to point fingers at anyone or imply anything, but I think a lot of the problem has to do with emulation, namely, how easy it is to find NES roms. A lot of people get stuck in the mentality of, "Why should I buy a 15+ year old game ported to a new system when I can get the rom free?"

And Joen, I don't think the GBA is going to look THAT bad in production - if you look close, you can see that it's just a badly rendered concept design. Now if they textured the artwork on it like the original controller (that sortof rough feeling), then it would be really awesome. I hope they change the packaging of the games a bit, too - that's a little lame...
