Hey guys, If I were to remove the Disk System component from a Sharp Twin Famicom, would anything else be affected? I'm working on a project where I need a Famicom with AV out (board only), but I don't exactly want to fork out the cash needed for an AV Famicom, and I don't trust myself enough to spend money on a kit and then screw it up along with a regular Famicom board. I've seen a few Twin Famicoms go for much lower prices than AVs, so I was wondering whether or not I'd just be able to harvest the board from one of these and leave the disk drive behind. -Chief
Provided you put the switch in the cartridge position, it should work exactly like a regular Famicom - the only thing to watch out for is that the PCB is quite a bit larger than the Famicom one is, because it also has all the logic for the RAM adapter on it.
