It seems that taking an established game style and forcefully moving
it to the FPS genre was as fucking retarded in reality as it was on paper
    over three years ago.

Even Paying the Red Vs. Blue people to make the game seem cool failed.

    FASA closed it's doors, R.I.P.

I am not sad to see these people who ruined mechwarrior and shadowrun
get pink slips. As far as I am concerned: good riddance. FASA died ages ago and we all know it.

I assume this will become like x-com and I look foward to the
games in the FASA style that will fill the gap.

    Awesome, but does this mean:

    1. More dev kit goodness, or is all the more recent ones getting shipped back?

    2. Who has the rights to Shadowrun now?

It's a MS company, so it all goes into the closet.

    Same answer to question 2.

It's like when microprose was fuxxored, and now all kinds of people make
    x-com style games.

And how EA ruined command and conquer, and now we have people
    stepping up.

I am guessing that the franchise will be locked up until MS exits gaming,
as selling it might be embarassing. Considering the estimated 20-30 milion
lost on this piece of shit, it'll probably used as a doorprop for years to come.

Hmmm...You would think they would use the rights for something, like the older Shadowrun games or something for Xbox Live.

I LOVE Shadowrun on the 360. What it lacks in single player it more than makes up for in its depth of gameplay. Shadowrun wouldn't have gotten as much hate as it did if it were simply not a Shadowrun game.

It's a great game hampered by development and fanbase problems.

It's probably the most played game on my 360. The only reason I haven't touched it is because my Xbox is in the hospital.

I didn't think it was that bad of a game, but I suck at games like that and don't know anything about the whole Shadowrun thing.

It's the legacy of the name. Whoring out an established name
and gametype does not endear oneself to the populace.

What a waste. If there was ever a franchise that screamed "Make an MMORPG out of me." this was it. How that idea flew over their heads I'll never know. Hopefully the next company to get a hold of this brand will be smarter about it.

So what is Shadowrun? I remember a Genesis game, and that it's a tabletop game or something, thats all. Is it just one of those big things like D and D and stuff?

speaking of microprose, does anyone recall Dark Earth? Amazing game.

What has happened to FASA however is a tendency that exists in many now-Microsoft owned studios.

For example Rare's Conker's Bad Fur Day for the XBOX sinked, and so did Viva Pinata, Perfect Dark, Grabbed by the Ghoulies and to an extent, Kameo. Some didn't sell but were good (Yes, I m talking about Conker and Viva Pinata) and some were just a let-down (speaking of Perfect Dark Zero and Kameo to some extent)

There's obviously something wrong here with Microsoft Games Studios - They can't be depriving us of good franchises by making games that won't sell :p

    I wants my conkers gadamit.

    I haven't played Shadowrun on the X360.

But the story is so lame. It happens in Santos, Brazil. But the geography doesn't ressemble Santos at all (i know it's futuristic, but c'mon)

Plus a friend told me that the ammount of portuguese errors in the game is huge.

just heard the interview at OXM, where the creator of the game cried and complained why it got a 7.0. The man clearly needs to play some good games if he considered Shadowrun 360 to be a an 8.5 game (at least:p ).

Alas, he said he worked "in retail before becomming a game developer", which could mean quite alot.

So the moral of the story is:

Go to school kids and do your homework - no one likes games from people without a degree.

    Dear Jeff Minter,

Please make sure you go back to university and get a degree as clearly your wonderful game Space Giraffe clearly is the work of an uneducated mind and OXB magazine were obviously quite clearly in the right to give you a low score as you are an uneducated bum.

    Thanks

When I was an intern at a tech department, the people with degrees and stuff were the ones who fucked stuff up, such as erasing a server backup somehow.
