So whats everyones favorite dish that they can actually make at home. Currently mine is Katsu curry. It also happens to be what i eat out the most at my favorite restaurant. Its also pretty simple to make.
In my house we love to make Chilli and usually have it quite often. I must admit we are not the best at cooking but thats one thing that we cook well whenever we make it.
My favorite dish to cook (although wrong time of the year at the moment to cook it) is traditional English stew with dumplings I would usually start preparing and peeling the veggies about 10am, putting the meat in shortly after, usually lamb or beef, although have used pork and that works well also, and leaving to slow-cook until about 6pm Cant beat the smell of it throughout the day, lovely earthy smell, plus tastes pretty damned good as well!
Well, if it wasn't time consuming I'd be all about making Pho. Hands down my favorite thing out of any food.
Theres this place about 15mins from me at university thats got really good Pho. Its infact all it sells!
There's a Mexican restaurant in town down here that cooks a VERY good grilled Chicken. The name of the dish is "Chicken a la Parilla", and its a grilled chicken breast, served on top of some onions and bell peppers that are soaking up the moisture from the grill and the chicken itself, and on top of the chicken is a large layer of melted Monterrey jack cheese.....YUM. It comes with a plate of refried beans, rice, sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo (basically Pico is tomatoes and peppers sliced together with Cilantro). And it also comes with tortillas. I like to cut pieces of the chicken up in long strips and put them in a tortilla, and then put the stuff from the other plate in it, as well as the peppers and onions, to make really really awesome tasting burritos....well, they might be more like Faijitas. I dont know. As for cooking at home, I like Spaghetti and Meatballs.
fried glass noodles with mincemeat and green onions, some ginger and some garlic, chaffed carrot, and my very own special homemade super secret chili & rice wine sauce dish doesn't have a name yet.
When I was at college I got a part-time job working in an authentic Mexican restaurant. Up to that point I had also already spent a bit of time in a French restaurant in Edinburgh (which is no longer there - nothing to do with me!) I'll be honest, I just enjoy great food. I generally cook something straight forward like lasagna as I have a fussy daughter who dislikes spices & too many herbs. What I really LOVE to cook however is Christmas dinner! It's the only time of the year when the family all gets together in the way I remember abroad, where the whole family so often would group around the table. The meal is usually very good and the company brilliant!
Cool another true hot food lover! I've grown habaneros in the past but never knew what to do with 90% of them. I guess the answer is make preserved salsa picante.
for you habanero lovers, watch this vid. http://www.metacafe.com/watch/431170/habanero_meltdown/ we dared my friend to eat 6 habaneros. and another guy to eat just one. hilarity ensues. not for the faint of heart or those with a weak stomach.
