What are your favorite downloadable console games? By downloadable console games I mean XBLA games, PSN games, and WiiWare games. I have a handful of them, but I was particularly impressed by two of them: After Burner Climax and Wipeout HD. After Burner Climax has beautiful, shiny graphics and addictive, arcade-style gameplay. Wipeout HD has detailed (1080p!), smooth (60fps!) graphics, cool racing mechanics, and a pretty sweet techno soundtrack. So, what are your favorites? Maybe there are some lesser known games out there that I should try.
Rez HD is excellent. I would have bought a straight port, but we get High Rez gfx + 5.1 sound + extra modes/filters. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is good for the online play. After Burner Climax was pretty good.
I have After Burner Climax and Joe Danger. Both are great! After Burner Climax is a perfect port with some minor added content ( some items to make your progression easier). It's short, yes, since it's just the arcade port but i never get tired of it. Joe Danger is basicly Excite Bike + Trials HD. Tons of fun, addicting and challenging. Plus i never get tired of Joe Danger accident animations Wipeout HD + Fury i have on disc, but it's amazing the same content is avaiable for download. Simply fantastic. Anyone have Deathspank, Burn Zombie Burn, or any other downloadable game? Post your opinions! PS: Any ideas if OutRun Online Arcade will someday be avaiable at PSN Store US?
WipEout HD Fury - Absolutely fantastic, should be everyone's first PSN game. Fat Princess - Awesome game. Rocket Knight Adventures - Great platformer, well worth the money. Marvel vs Capcom 2 - It's Mahvel Baybee! Super SF2 Turbo HD GTI Club + Bionic Commando Rearmed Outrun Online Trine is also pretty good, the kids like Turtles in Time and Final Fight: Double Impact is well worth the money. Need to sort the 360 out as I want to get both Virtual-ON games, Garou: MotW and '98: UM.
After Burner Climax^^ - a lot of fun Toy Soldiers - pretty cool tower defense style game BF 1943 - i just like the new BF´s by Dice
I agree with most of the games mentioned so far, except Turtles in Time, which I thought was a pretty awful remake, and I'd add Trials HD and Shadow Complex. Don't count on it...after all, it's been over a year since it was released.
Peggle - great puzzle game, I'm still playing this. Death Tank - I'm one of the few people that liked this update I think. Trials HD - Great fun with some hilarious stunts. Great level design. Wipeout HD - see la-li-lu-le-lo's comments, especially the soundtrack. Texas Hold 'Em - Playable but very basic poker game, there's little other choice..
You can't go wrong with Rez HD. Awesome fucking game. After Burner Climax and OutRun are also worth your cash. I really liked Aces of the Galaxy, too. Many other ports, like Ikaruga or Neo Geo Battle Colisseum are worth your points if you don't have the original versions. } I might derail the thread a bit... but is there any way to get those Xbox Live Arcade Indie games outside the U.S. region? There seems to be no way to get them from a Region 4 Latin American Xbox360.
A port has been released under the name of "qubed". Costs only 15$ as well. I played Rez for the PS2 a lot and I have to say that the 360 absolutely superior in all respects! Though it has no TRANCE VIBRATOR support. Damn it!
Patience... Haven't really enjoyed too many downloadable games; usually find them too short or too expensive (or both, see: South Park). Did enjoy Bionic Commando: Rearmed (XBLA) and Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (Wii).
Another vote for Trials HD. I just wish they'd included a more robust level sharing system. Me and a few mates had a lot of fun with N+. You do need a decent d-pad, though. I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Geometry Wars or its sequel. I never got good at either, but they're terrific games. On the indy side, Miner Dig Deep is well worth a look (it should seem familiar if you're a fan of Spelunky, which itself should be receiving an XBLA port soon). Totem is one of the most polished I've seen on the indy service, it's a fantastic little puzzler which hasn't received anything approaching the level of praise and recognition it deserves. It's also 80 MS points, which is absurdly cheap. Gerbil Physics is great, too.
Does anyone know how Rayman (PSOne Classics) looks on HD? Since it's a 2D game, i was wondering if it's worth getting.
