WHen I asked in the Happy Console gamer group alot of people said SNK Classic VOl 1 and Didn't care that the Emulation was tin can Good GOD did SNK and whoevery they outsourced to fuck up the US versions of some of it's compliations. The Japanese SNK Comps however are quite solid. As far as Sonic compliations. I love the Genesis Collection on PS3 and 360 but the PS2/PSP version has Shadow Dancer so.... But the King of the sonic comps have to go to Sonic Jam I think the graphics are at their best on the Saturn plus the Spin dash in Sonic 1. And Really Sonic 1-3k is all you need when it comes to Sonic. and Also the Mega man and Mega Man X comps are greatness...depending on what platform you get them for.
I liked the Activision Action Pack on PC, and if Darkstalkers Resurrection counts than that was good too. Though my favorite would be Sonic's UGC on 360. The only thing it's missing is the lock on with Sonic 3 and Knuckles.
That was a pretty sad re-release since it didn't have the extra characters in Vampire Savior that were already in other console versions.
It's good for playing Knightmare. Not much else. I guess my favorite collection is either: Gokujyo Parodius Da! Deluxe Pack (Saturn) or Thunder Force Collection Vol. 2 (Saturn). I don't really like collections with tons of games on them. Cheapens the experience IMO.
There are two of them. The first one is this: http://www.satakore.com/sega-saturn-game,,T-9703H,,Midway-Presents-Arcade-s-Greatest-Hits-USA.html Has Bubbles, Joust, Defender, Defender II, Sinistar and Robotron. The second one is the Atari Collection: http://www.satakore.com/sega-saturn...Greatest-Hits-The-Atari-Collection-1-USA.html With Asteroids, Battlezone, Centipede, Missile Command, Super Breakout and Tempest. I prefer the Atari one. In comparison to how the game looks, the controls and the sound, this one on Saturn is better than other releases. For example, most of the newer compilations for the retro games on PS1-3 have borders on them or arcade style overlays. I can't even say the Genesis collection on the PS3 because it plays in 4:3 on an HDTV and runs at 720p. I can tell the difference and there is just something wrong with trying to play that on a large TV. Sega Genesis, Capcom and Sonic on PS2 are OK but overall I prefer the two Saturn ones I mentioned.
Those were multi platform too. Probably why they went over my head. There was one on PS1 that included Toobin.
Super Mario All-Stars + World (SNES) Buster Bros Collection (PS1) Sega Ages Treasure Box (PS2) Taito Legends 2 (PC) Sega Ages Puyu Puyo Perfect Set (PS2) Also the new Pac-Man Museum with Pacman Battle Royal (4-Players!!!) in it looks great, gonna buy it when it comes out later this month!
Mamedox Platinum! (XBOX) Capcom Generations series (Saturn) Capcom Classics Collection Remixed/Reloaded (PSP) Sonic Jam (Saturn) Konami Classics Arcade Hits (DS)
What's wrong with the Saturn MSX collection? I just got it, but haven't gotten around to playing it yet. It looked great, since I've never played any MSX games and I don't want to emulate. The only thing I don't like is that Gradius 1 is the PSG version.
If you want to play MSX games then it's great. I just didn't find the MSX games to be all that good outside of Knightmare. Why would I play either Gradius on it when I've got the Gradius Deluxe Pack you know?
If only there were more but I'm very satisfied with: Street Fighter Anniversary Collection Alpha Collection Vampire Collection Capcom Classics vol. 1 and 2 SNK Neo Geo Classics vol. 1 King of Fighters Orochi Saga Metal Slug Collection Samurai Shodown Anthology Fatal Fury Collection vol 1 and 2 World Heroes Anthology Taito Collection 1 and 2
I see what you mean. I knew exactly what I wanted when I bought it and the games are great, at least to me. I have fun with stuff like that.
