Its welcome to me. Square hasn't made a real fuck-up in ages, and I enjoyed the type of 3-D in ff7 which is hailed (by some) to be the best final fantasy ever, so I am not really worried

Yes, but this was originally a 2d game, While FF7 wasnt. I dont know why Square wanted to go from 2d to 3d, anyway. They didnt pull this crap with their other remakes on the PS1. If this is the "real" FF3 I have been waiting a long-ass time for, I may resort to Translated ROMs of it. No wonder it took a while to port over. They just had to "casualise" this title. And the DS can handle 2d graphics better than it can 3d. Would you like it redone in 2d with awesome visuals or 3d with terrible visuals? 2d games are like a work of art, anyway. I hope the DS has the 2d version of this game on the bottom screen or something similar, because making the lost FF game 3d is insanity. I absolutely LOATHE the new look of it.

    EDIT:
No, this is not the "proper" FF3, Kevster. Its a casual remake of the real FF3.

All Square's fault, just like the idea of making the real FF3, 3d.

This will probably be named Japanese FF3 *(USA)* in Japan or something like that. Then there will be one more excuse for an America VS. Japan debate. :smt067

Lets say it right now, so It wont rise. Its all Sqaures and every casual gamer out there's fault.

Well, speaking as someone who has and loves the Jap original. I welcome this change, gives me a proper excuse to play it again. + if I want the original I'm not gonna pay 27 quid for it when its a fiver for the original. No I'm quite excited by this re-release looks like it might be quite good. Also I wish people would stop saying the Ds can't do 3d. It does it quite well, who knows what S-E can pull off on my fav handheld.

Although I am not a fan of the visual style as such - crystal chronicles was not my best game ever....

You have the privelge of owning the real copy of FF3 and know Japanese, though. If WA Alter Code F never came out as Wild Arms one in the US, first, I would be wary of getting it. All I am saying...is give the US the real FF3, Square. Or Im going to emulate it.

Oh don't worry - I feel for you guys. You should go emulate - you probably won't see it any other way. Either that or do as I did and sit down and learn Japanese!

OT, on a side note - ironic how the lovely Xenosaga 1/2 has been turned into very dull 2d graphics from 3d! There is a a re-release without any real point. That game is all about the excellent cut-scenes and story telling, combined with music and graphics. That is gonna be one boring game with no voice acting as well. I can't see myself taping continue through all those scenes I have seen before.

From an hardcore gamer point of view, i'm a bit disapointed, but from an analist point of view, This will be taken more seriously than a 2d FF game from the casual gamer, and it will help the system alot, for sure. So there's some good points.

It's not like i won't buy this game because it have 3d graphics anyway... i must admit that i would have loved to see this game redone in 2d and translated in english at the same time. Oh well, they could maybe put the original version with english texts in the Card, that would be really sweet.

I'm glad it's in 3D. The old FF's were unplayable before.

I beat every FF RPG except 10-2, and while FF7 was cool and everything, I still like the classic 2d styling. Like it wouldnt be that hard to fit it on the card, anyway. I dont see how the old FFs were "unplayable", but thats just your opinion. I was the only one in the Gamestop in Texarkana to put FF1 on the paper poll of favorite FF. I like that one a lot, plus the old look is rather nostalgic to me, where to a younger person, not as much. Im sure SOMEONE might put the real "Classic" FF3 out on a console or a handheld, (PSP, perhaps).

They are boring and their graphics are dated.

Personally, I am bit pleased. Instead of doing a standard 2D remake like they did with FFI and II, they actually are putting in some effort to make a decent portable 3D RPG for the DS. Not to mention the game looks great for a DS game (much better then the 3D playstation ones). I just hope Square-Enix will add a few things to make it a bit long.

The problem is that this is not a "remake" to those in the US; this is an insult. Ooh, we have to redo everything in "Crystal Chronicles" style or else our marketing people (you know, the people that have never actually played a damn video game) won't like it...

For once a company is not going for a quick cash in port to a handheld yet they still get bashed.
    I think it looks great.

Quite the contrary. They are putting all this work in, because they know that graphics sell to casual gamers, where if they released a port for "quick cash", they might not have good support (Which means they wont have "Quick cash" after all), but only companies with balls have the courage to do that in this day and age.:(
