Thank You Agetec!
If it has the same soundtrack, or a redone version of the same soundtrack, I would really love it. Also, the intro to the original was one of the best intros in Videogame history. If it has the same music and similar intro, I will get it as soon as I can get my grubby hands on a copy.
think it will be the first NTSC-US game (apart from FFXI and is expension) that will use the HDD, yeah! why couldn't mgs3 use it, WHY?!! anyway, i'm pretty excited about the idea of playing the remake of the Original Wild Arms soon.
OMG, I really love the first game, and this one doesnt look like it will dissapoint! And according to a certatin fansite, the ultimate macho man joins your party!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 I have/stole some "confidential" pics if you want them, too. :smt083
Not really. Here's a list of games that use / support the official HDD (or any normal HD , with the HDD Utility Disc 1.10 installed and with a modchip with Auto-ATAD patch). - Final Fantasy XI - Final Fantasy XI: Chains of Promathia - Expansion Pack - Socom II : US Navy Seals - Socom 3 (??? Who knows...) - Resident Evil: Outbreak - Resident Evil: Outbreak File #2 - ESPN College Hoops 2K5 - ESPN NBA 2K5 - ESPN NFL 2K5 - ESPN NHL 2K5 - Wild Arms: Alter Code F Not much, but it's not only one or two games. In Japan of course, because of the BBNavigator 0.30, there's a lot more games that use the HDD. Some of them are: - Final Fantasy X - Final Fantasy X International - Kingdom Hearts - Kingdom Hearts Final Mix - Xenosaga Episode 1 - Xenosaga Episode 2 - Unlimited SaGa - Wild Arms 3 - Wild Arms: Alter Code F - Ace Combat 4 - Virtua Fighter 4 - Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution - Armored Core 3 - Taito's Energy Airforce - Winning Eleven 5 (not sure) - Winning Eleven 5:Final Evolution - Winning Eleven 6 - Winning Eleven 6 Final Evolution - Winning Eleven 7 - Winning Eleven 7:Final Evolution - Winning Eleven 8 - Winning Eleven 8 Liveware Edition (not sure) - 3D Fighting School 2 - Dark Chronicle (Dark Cloud 2) - Capcom Vs. SNK 2s. - Disaster Report - Soul Calibur II - Star Ocean III: Till the End of Time - All-Star Pro Wrestling II - Pop'n Taisen Puzzle-dama Online - Net de Bomberman (Bomberman Online) - Nobunaga's Ambition Online (and its expansion) - King of Collisseum - Winning Post 6: Maximum 2004 Those Winning Eleven strategy games seen to use the HDD too. Anyway, not only the support is bigger, but the browser updates is better. On the NTSC|U/C, the HDD Utility Disc 1.10, lets you make backups of your PS1 and PS2 saves on the HDD, enables the HDD for the games (dah!) and it adds the Network Adaptor MAC Adress on the browser. It also lets you configure Keyboard and Mouse. On the NTSC|J, the BBNAV 0.30 does all that, plus it has Music Channel (that lets you rip music from CDs to be used on games that support the HDD), Photo Channel (that lets you see pics you taken on a Digital Camera), the Game Channel (lets you download videos, pics and music of upcoming games). Not to mention that some companies have their own channels, with news and stuff (Capcom is one of them). Plus it has a dedicated e-mail system. The question is, why this is not avaiable on the NTSC|U/C version?
i really think it would be great if sony would kick themselves in the back and release those function in america and europe. Just look at the list of games that supported it in japan, but that was cutted for the american and european market. Would it cost more to include an HDD installation support for their games? No. I must agree that the PS2 HDD isn't as popular as in japan, but there's still people that own it in the pal and ntsc\us format, and it could boost the sales to see that it have other utilities than playing ffxi (wich is like, for the majority of the potantial consumer, the major reason to buy that expansive expansion! :smt022 will any other ps2 game features the HDD support here? For now, the only reason i have to buy it is for the Illegal disc that make you able to install complete games on it, and to own ffxi on ps2 (wich will be a pretty rare ff in the next years....and we all know what a rare ff means!) Anyway, Back on topic, Does anyone knows if Wild Arms: Alter Code:F Will be installed completly on the HDD, or only a part of it will be?
Honestly i don't criticize HD Loader / HD Advance. SCEA didn't want to support the HDD, so i'm glad someone did. HD Loader / HD Advance is great for games like Grand Theft Auto, that slowly kill the PS2 lenses, because it simply doesn't stop loading info from the whole disc. When you install it on the HD, not only it plays better, but it saves the lenses. Another good example. I wanted the official HDD from day one. But i don't want FFXI. Why i have to pay 100 bucks for a 40GB when i can get a bigger HD for less? Thank god actual modchips like DMS3, DMS4, Matrix Infinity, Venus Pro, and many others have support to AUTO ATAD PATCHING, so any normal HD can be recognized as the official one. With so many great appz coming to the PS2 like PS2MP3, PS2 Reality Media Player and a new HD Loader project (that will support more games, and some people say, even install PS1 games and DVD movies), plus new Emulators running on it, and making advantage of the HD, the future of the HD is great. Not because SCEA.
As long as no games (other than FFXI) actually _require_ the Hard Drive, I'm cool. Wild Arms doesn't require it, does it? That would be one hell of a bummer.
Wild Arms won't require it, but highly recommanded if the loading times are as long as i heard. < anyway, when i'll have more cash, it think i'll get it (speaking of the hdd) because it's good for a collector, for ffxi and Wild Arms but also for the HD loader. I'll start a new thread about the HDD because i have some questions about it, and i don't want to submerge this thread into the off-topic-ness.
The only game that requires the HDD on the NTSC|U/C is Final Fantasy XI. The rest uses it to decrease load times, some use to save directly on the HDD, some use for special content like roster updates, the 3 extra maps of Socom II, ... On the NTSC|J, Bomberman Online and some others require the HDD.
I don't think that would be possible. Unless of course, in the GTAs where it's continuously loading things, and on occasions doesn't get enough time to load THE GROUND UNDERNEATH YOU!! Anyone tried GTA3/VC/SA installed on a HD around here?
From what i've been told, GTA:3 , GTA:Vice City and GTA:San Andreas works greats on HD Loader. Since it loads directly from the HD, not only it's faster to load the scenery, but it's safer to the lenses (The GTA series wears down the ps2 lens, because it simply never stop loading things from different parts of the disc)
Intro video from the newest Wild Arms game: Wild Arms: The 4th Detonator http://www.outerspace.com.br/videos/wildarms4-002.wmv PS: If you don't know much the Wild Arms series, here's all versions on release order: Wild Arms (PS1) Wild Arms 2 / Wild Arms: 2nd Ignition (PS1) Wild Arms 3 / Wild Arms Advanced 3rd (PS2) Wild Arms Alter Code: F (PS2) -> Wild Arms Remake Wild Arms 4 / Wild Arms: The 4th Detonator (PS2) Don't know what happened to Wild Arms Another Code: F. Turned to The 4th Detonator perhaps?
4th Detonator looks good. I wonder why Filgaia remains in shitty condition no matter how many times you "save" it. But it was shittiest in WA2. I didnt like it.
