though, i do understand that many would have upgraded their existing nintendo console to the next generation as they all (up untill Wii) had the same video cable..

But still, Leave the new comers in a ditch why don't you Nintendo.

Nothing too exciting/adventurous in my case - the Japanese edition of Namco Museum for the PSP (I got it primarily to get a quick fix of Galaxian/Galaga, but also just to check whether the PSP was indeed region-free for games).

I'd like to have said that I got Densha de Go! Pocket: Yamanote-Sen-Hen to play whilst riding the same, but sadly, I didn't actually get that title until after I'd returned home from that trip.

I didn't realise there was a Densha game for the PSP? Is it good?

There are actually 4 pure densha games for the PSP, which essentially are ports of lines from the PS2 Densha de Go! Final. IMHO, they're pretty good.

Ongakukan also made train-sims, using synchronised video instead of CG - they produced 2 PSP titles, one of which incudes a densha style mode of play & was marketed with the Densha de Go! logo.

Where on Earth did you buy it for that price? As someone who bought loads of sealed PC-Engine games around that time, I can say that's about half price.

i don`t recall the name of the store.

it was on aki main road , pretty "large" store on ground lvl with a stairway in the middle.

register was on the left side and right behind it they had neo geo games in the back and PCE games , but only a very few.

if i remember correctly they only had repro covers (in seal-kings) in the shelfs and you had to bring them to the register.

does that ring a bell ?

    ps.

it was a black pvc floor and so was the stairway

No telling. Even if it's still there now, their floor layout has most likely changed a few times over. Porn on the top floor seems to be the only constant in Akihabara.

I'm pretty sure my first game was that paper rock scissors Ranma 1/2 puzzle game for SFC. I probably picked it up at a Mandrake (so hard to remember being as I went in like a zillion shops :icon_bigg).

On a slight tangent, i wish to god i'd had a digital camera when i first came here and taken a ton of shots. I can remember a ton of interesting stores, but given i was all over Japan for 3.5 weeks, i can't remember where the hell they were - half the stores i recall from Aki weren't there the mere year later when i moved :/

Given how quickly aki is changing now, i'd guess a year away these days would have the same effect.

First game I imported from Japan: Dracula-X PCE

First game I bought for myself in Japan: Space Channel 5 DC (the English dub does NOT do this game justice. You MUST play the original JPN version with the "Engrish" soundtrack for maximum enjoyment).

First game I bought for someone else in Japan: Beatmania (PSX)

Marvel Vs. Capcom with CPS2 motherboard. The guy in the shop didn't seem to understand the problem with suicide batteries. Worked fine though.
