That mostly was the case in all post Soviet countries. At least you can buy modern games without a problem now.

 

I think I need to clarify what i said, I didn't say i pirate anything I said that there will always be people out there who think any price is to much and will therefore pirate, I personally know many people who would rather spend hundreds of dollars for pirate devices then four dollars for a game. Go figure.

 

Dendy!

 

I tried so hard to find a Dendy when I was passing through the Ukraine, with no luck. Was quite interesting talking to a few of the locals about how Steam and digital downloads make piracy much less attractive.

 

I'd love to own a Dendy, because back in the early to mid nineties, that was the name of video games; Russia had never even heard of the NES. It's almost like legitimate piracy, if that makes any sense. I watched this documentary made by this Russian guy about Dendy, it was really interesting. Apparently, many people had to play in black and white as the old glorious Soviet TVs used the SECAM system, and Dendies were all PAL.

 

It's already near the end of the consoles life, NX should be coming out soon so it won't hurt too much. It might actually boost console sales. Wii U has been out for a while so I'm assuming it's making a profit now on hardware.

I hope so too. Once it switches to digital, I'd probably retire from gaming. Don't like the idea of buying a game then losing it when the console gets discontinued all together and i collect too.
