Just got back from Downtown Rio, were all Saturdays, there's a flea market below the Perimetral bridge. Lots of antiques and junk stuff (i even got to see a almost new condition Sony Betamax Video Player ). Anyway, not much gaming as i expected. Most stuff besides antiques, were old radios, cameras, computer stuff and some other electronic stuff. I saw some Sega Saturns, all incomplete, and not looking good, tons of Mega Drives and SNES, unboxed and dirty, and a beaten-up Master System. The good things were a NeoGeo CD, a N64 and some Famiclones stuff. Too bad the NeoGeo CD was too expensive, and the N64 was just the console and a game (Cruisin' USA). Didn't bought nothing, because i had not much cash and wasn't with my backpack (to carry stuff). I plan returning there next week, to see if i can find a cheap Saturn or maybe even a Dreamcast. Anyway, any of you guys have flea markets around? Any good findings on them? Tell us.
wow, you lucky one. over there, if you see a saturn in a flea-market, you need to buy it, or you'll miss a rare chance to get one without the help of ebay. so there's no chance you can see a neo-geo cd. even dreamcasts are rare around here.
The flea markets here in Atlanta have Super Nintendos, the old grey GameBoys, & some have Famicom games. One other store I could've sworn had the box for a Debugging Playstation... I once went into a Japanese store around the flea market area & saw a boxed Super Famicom!!!!! That was the last day I saw it, I didn't even get the price for it.
Its rare for me to go to flea markets these days, but from what I have heard the closest one to me is uber, and has tons of stuff. I went to a pawn shop a month or so ago that was in the area and found a Street Fighter II arcade cabinet that was complete and mint for $75. Unfortunatly it had already been sold, and the guy who bought it just hadn't picked it up yet.
Scored a Master Converter for the Genesis for $2 at a flea market today. Found a super Joy famiclone for 10$, a hong kong original "Master Fighter" bootleg Famicom cart for $5.
Only the flea market in Raleigh has anything decent, and even then they'll overcharge you ($30 for a Genesis, and that *might* include the cables). I've gotten some pretty good deals on PC games there, though (C&C: Tiberian Sun for $5 about a month after it was released ).
Yesterday was Flea Market game. I didn't find any more Atari 5200 games, but I did see many old computer stuff (external hard drives or modems, PowerBooks, and the such), lots of N64 and SNes stuff, Famiclones, and Atari 2600 stuff, among all sorts of assorted trash. Some days the vendors become very despotic and treat buyers badly and sell everything at harsh prices. But generally, it's a great place. Saturn does happen to be insanely rare here - no way you'll see one. I think Garlo (a board member) did see one in a Flea Market in Monterrey, though.
Saturns are no easier to find here. I've seen three Saturns for sale in the past five years. They were all in the same store, and they all disappeared shortly after coming in. It's a damn good thing I bought one of them. There's the occasional Japanese PSX game in the flea markets here, but they're so expensive it's not worth it (used JP Tenchu for $30? No thanks...).
in my area the flea markets have a good sampling of video game stuff. problem is, since ebay and this t.v. program called antiques roadshow everyone thinks their crap is worth hundreds of dallors. you even go into thrift or pawn stores and shit is priced way beyond its actual worth...forget finding a bargin, its hard enough just to find something thats reasonably priced. last time i was at a flea market here, this guy had a stack of old 2600 pacman games selling for 20$ a piece. right next to them where a bunch of ps2/xbox games selling for 15$....its complete insanity
meh, you're not lucky socialdrone. there's less peoplethat don't know how they're things for sale are worth these days, but i can still manage to get super deals by time to time where i live.
i remember this ebgames that was sorta like a flea market,.....in one day they had 3 saturn(the round button ones) 2 master systems, 12 sega dreamcasts and a complete gensis sega cd combo thing in its original box...the saturns were 12dollars cdn, the master systems were 20 and the dreamcast were 25, the sega cd and gensis combo was 30......oh how i wish i had bought it....i even seen a kid trade in a neogeo pocket color...i went every day for a month after that to see if they had for sale.....they didnt....damm them
GameStop used to be great back then when they were still called FuncoLand. They used to have every old console from the NES to N64. They even had Sega Saturns, Game Gears, Jaguars, NES consoles, & the old Grey GameBoy. Now, they suck. All they have are new games. All old things they have at my local GameStop are NES/SNES/Genesis carts, & maybe a few NES controllers. That's it! Maybe someone greedy bought everything off. :-D :smt071
Game Exchange is a good place for old stuff. I get most of my games from 3 places; Ebgames, Gamespot, and Game Exchange. Ebay is good for the super rare stuff that is impossible to find in the wild.
Are you purposely trying to start some sort of interwebsite flame war, or does this just come naturally?
