Yeah, is there anyone here who hates PETA? I, for one, do because when I read about them on wikipedia, I was appalled by the fact that, out of the billions of dollars PETA makes in donations each year, only a small percentage of that goes to actually helping the animals they swore to protect(the rest of it goes to producing wasteful ad campaigns). Secondly, out of all the animals that PETA "rescues", 80% of them are killed to "prevent them from being abused again". But what about you all? What is your take on this? EDIT:Okay, let me rephrase what I just said. I don't hate PETA, I mean I like that they're trying to help animals and spread awareness about animal cruelty(and I do hate animal cruelty), but I DO think that PETAs methods of actually carrying that out are backwards and twisted.
Killing animals seems cruel to me. Based on what I know, the USA humane society should be getting more money for what they do. They actually work towards saving and giving homes to poor and abused animals.
That is your opinion, I just think they are a bunch of people who should be thrown in jail for gassing the animals. In the name of "saving the animals".
RSPCA are the exact same. Real bastards for euthanizing animals that don't need it. Much preferred PDSA in that respect.
I really love animals, but I never was able to go vegetarian. Still, I do think humans need to treat animals better. Companion animals suffer horrible fates because of the ignorance of most people. Down here, the situation is horrendous, with the puppy mills and the people who sell pets. However... PETA is just too scandalous, like a fundamentalist organisation, or like a marketing campaign. They are the Westboro Baptist Church of animal activists, and they make the rest of people, that actually do want to help animals, look bad. PETA makes me want to have a huge steak, kick a puppy field-goal style, and club a baby seal while I set a panda on fire.
I hate all those people making stupid "for every animal you don't eat i'm gonna eat three!!! lolol" jokes and raging at strawman holier-than-thou vegans, but PETA really is a dumb organization that just creates more animosity for its cause.
Slight correction, actually; Animal Liberation Front and Earth Liberation Front(organizations that PETA has provided funding to) are, according to investigations done by the FBI, domestic terrorist organizations.
If there's one thing in this universe I can safely say I don't care about, it's peta. A bunch of people want to not eat meat, and not wear fur? Be my guest.
Nuts aren't a sufficient source of protein and some people are allergic to nuts so they can't become vegans with this thought PETA isn't just inhumane to animals, but to humans too. Well at least they don't have double standard.
You say advertising is a waste of money, but how do you estimate the number of saved animals as a result of their ad campaigns?
That's not really the point, though. The judgmental attitude, the extreme views, and the direct aggression, instead of education and information, do very little for the cause of animal activism. And their help is rather questionable, with their huge euthanasia ratio. I myself see them as more harmful to our cause to help animals than helpful. Still, though, their heart might be on the right place. I don't think so, but it might. Animals do need better treatment.
If it stood to you, and you had the presidential power. You would throw me in a jail, because according to your president I am a "low level" terrorist. Which is bullshit ! It is NOT the truth, cause according to GoH , then the Occupy movement is a terrorist organization. Which is not a terrorist organisation. But as I pointed out in my first post in the thread, I seriously dislike PETA.
PETA purposely operates in a fashion that rubs people the wrong way. They believe that being over the top changes more minds. But they don't break laws. Not sure where this number about them killing animals comes from, because PETA is not a rescue organization, as far as I know. I usually donate to my local SPCA's, which actually run adoption sites.
They are doing it for the money: peta might be a foundation but that doesnt means the employees work for free, in fact most of they make more than $50k a year for throwing guro pictures of dismembered animals in elementary schools Those in management are in the high 6 figures, and the nazi bitch that runs the show went from being a dirt-poor redneck to a millionaire thanks to all those donations from retarded vegans Its all business, if there were no money peta would be 5 dudes jacking off to pigfarm stock footage. Thats why peta should be stormed and everyone there sent to jail for a long time
I think you took that statement a little too serious. Anyway, yes I eat meat (not much, actually) and I even wear fur. PETA should check for animal welfare in those industries, not banning the products.
