Seriously no spoilers if anything is spoiled I WILL FORCE CHOKE YOU. That said I think we'd all at least like to talk a little bit about it. I watched the Red Carpet stream last night as Verizon was kind enough to set up a channel for it. All I took away from it is that Drunk Carrie Fisher is a national treasure.
Seeing it on Thursday, really hope it doesn't suck. I'm carefully optimistic due to the lack of Lucas and besides, seeing all the X-Wings and other old ships in the trailers already made it feel more like Star Wars than the prequels.
a few lucky people got to see it on the premier and had pretty good things to say about it on twitter, its looking good.
I have a theory that Disney wants to fund endevors using Star Wars. They can't afford to have their first effort as Lucasfilm's overlords suck. I'm more pessimistic about Rogue One next year. BUT Donnie Freakin Yen is in Rogue One. And can I just say, Daisy Ridley is freakin gorgeous. Cute at times, but mostly gorgeous.
I've got a sinking feeling that the new trilogy will follow an Iron Man trend. The first movie will be fairly decent and the follow ups will venture into meh territory.
I'm going to the premier in the 18th of December. I have 2 days left, but I still have to watch 5 Star Wars movies to get in touch again. ( I started chronologically, so I already watched the Phantom Menace a few days ago )
I will only watch it on saturday but I can't wait. I hope it's good. And I want an original poster (one from the cinema). I found some on ebay but they are a bit expensive. Maybe after the movie launches it will go down in price a bit. I already have original posters from episodes I, IV, V and VI so it would be nice to have from episode VII as well.
Am I seriously the only person who thoroughly enjoyed all three Iron Man movies? The first was the best by far, but the others were great too. But then again I may not be as critical of movies as some people, because I actually really like The Phantom Menace and (parts of) Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith too
You only have to watch 3 THERE ARE NO PREQUELS. I refuse to belive Medicloreans are the reason for Force sensitivity and that teen angst is why Darth Vader became what he was.
All six movies are important in their own special way. Plus they're like 80% of the canon now, since Disney got rid of the EU. I'm excited for the new movie. I'm going on Friday morning, the first showing I could get a ticket for. I wouldn't be surprised if A) Disney makes back all the production money on tie-ins and toys, and B) it sets some sort of huge record. I mean I heard a few months ago it had made like $50 million on advance sales online. And that was way before the thing came out.
The EU is referred to as Star Wars Legends now. Not quite cannon, not quite gone. I would love to see a movie or two in the Old Republic.
I have a feeling that people who watched the original trilogy years before the prequels will always dislike the prequels no matter what. Obviously the original trilogy is superior, but you can't call a Star Wars movie horrible trash. I agree that Episode 1 was too slow and boring, and episode 2 had some unneeded love scenes and a lack of character development. Episode 3 on the other hand was quite excellent in my opinion. The Youtuber - HelloGreedo does an excellent job reviewing the Star Wars movies and I recommend to check him out.
When I saw the prequels ALL 3 IN THEATERS at that. I liked them for what they were. But in the grand scheme of things they were forgettable. I didn't even know what Medicloreans were until I saw the People VS George Lucas. Not sure if I wasn't paying attention or if I blocked that detail out. Maybe I just forgot them with time. I think the best part of the prequels were Darth Maul. MAYBE Yoda in action. MAYBE but I get this feeling Yoda was capable of more than he did in that Attack of the Clones fight.
I left out the other awesome thing about the prequels. and EPIC tune wasted on such a shitty shitty movie. So I'm seeing Force Awakens Saturday at 3:55. I'm not going anywhere but heavily filtered facebook and here.
Meh, Star Wars fans wrecked Star Wars by never shutting up about it and overrating it to death. It's fanbase justified the prequels they loathe (and Jar-Jar) by making George Lucas a godlike figure immune to criticism from pretty much anyone or anything (until 1999 at least). I mean, come on. It's gotta be bad when the guy who's responsible for The Empire Strikes Back gets his ideas for a Star Wars movie rejected. Hey, I'm sure Disney will probably deliver and give the fans what they want. Maybe the key to the Star Wars franchise has become so powerful that no one man can hold it without losing their mind to it (even it's creator).
Not likely to see it until next year, may wait until it goes onto DVD as the cinemas are stupid expensive these days to go to and when you do many people around you are far from quiet, and the seats aren't generally comfortable. What I have heard from the reviewers that have seen the movie is that it is supposed to be excellent. Given (also heard) $4 billion was paid for the rights to the films and merchandise for this and the next two (or more) films, they will have to go some to get their money back let alone profit - the top three revenue Star Wars films netted about that amount in the past. Means they will be focused on making the next two films as good and will be then reliant on merchandise - so they should do well in that regards as there are millions of people who are nerdy and love anything Star Wars; it's their religion in a way. This film is pretty much guaranteed to break all box office hits, based on being Star Wars, however they know people will only bother with the third one if the next one is as good as the first in this series; as usually a third film is the duck.
Back under the bridge troll. They weren't that bad, Super High end theater that I usually go to just for Opera HD livecasts were pretty reasonable, $25 for two tickets. Not bad considering how nice this theater is. Now the Deluxe seats would have been twice that. Movie Prices are pretty reasonable where I live I guess. I've seen qutie a few in the last four months. You may want to stay off the internet until it's out on DVD/Blu Ray. It'll be spoiled probably by the end of the day.
I've seen it now, and all I can say without giving away is that it's awesome, and you will not be disappointed.
