Disney is The Sith, you have let the hate flow through you. Search your feelings, GoH, you can't do this. I feel the conflict within you. Let go of your hate.
Disney saved Star Wars. Now we get Star Wars every year for the rest of our lives perhaps until a real death star is built by SJW's to check our privilege. But on to your post saying that Star Wars fans justify the prequels no matter (the reason for "Under the Bridge troll") I simply point you to the documentary The People VS George Lucas as a correction of that statement.
I shouldn't have used the internet today. Accidentally saw some spoilers in the comments just watching a Youtube video that had absolutely nothing to do with Star Wars. I was also browsing /v/ on 4chan and as always some trolls were posting spoilers, but that is to be expected from a place like that. Still have to wait until tomorrow to see the actual movie and give my thoughts about it.
I've seen a few non spoiler reviews and the vibe is positive from all. So much looking forward to seeing this.
I just saw it. I won't spoil anything, but I'll just say that I thought it was pretty awesome. I had pretty high expectations for it, and I wasn't disappointed.
I've been limiting my internet and on web You Tube usage to avoid them so far so good. I'm seeing it at 3:55 tomorrow afternoon. I want to know NOTHING. I have a basic plot but not the why of everything. I know Luke is in it but not why. I think after we've all seen it I'll start a 2nd Spoilers thread so we can discuss the movie in more detail I'll do that Monday to give most of us time to see it unless some of you aren't seeing it until next week. Maybe a 1 week window before a spoiler thread?
Somehow I managed to get lucky and not know almost anything about the plot before seeing it, other than some old characters coming back because that was getting hyped.
I only know the bare minimum. Something something First order, SOmething something Kylo Ren is a motivated Vader fanboy something something Finn is a self doubting storm trooper, something something Ray is the main character pretty much, something something Han (and the last bit MIGHT be a spoiler) I don't know Luke's involvement I don't know what's going on with Han (other than something that might be a very minor spoiler) I don't know anything about BB8 I don't know anything about C3P0's arm I don't know anything about Ray I don't know anything about the empire's replacement other than it's name. So I'm going in pretty much spoiler free and after I finish typing this I'm off the internet until I see the movie. I'll start a Spoiler thread after Christmas so everyone gets a chance to see and digest it.
Just came home after watching it. As a lot of people say, it did live up to the expectations. It had a lot of elements taken for New Hope, but they fitted in well in this movie. Overall, I am very satisfied and there were very few flaws with the movie. The only thing I didn't like was the villain. Not Kylo, bet the other villain. I understand that his character will be developed in the future, but as of know, I dislike him.
Same. Very thankful for that. Well, except I haven't seen it yet haha. I'm honestly more stoked for The Hateful Eight, though. I think that poor movie is going to get squashed by Episode VII.
He did seem pretty BA in the prequels, and being already almost 900 you'd think he wouldn't have aged so quickly to Empire/Jedi. Also I've seen all 7 movies in theaters. And I saw the Clone Wars movie too, so all the ones that were theatrically released in the US I heard about that, it was pretty crazy. Before today, all I'd done was watch the trailers. I'm down with pre-release discussions and "spoilers", even though a lot of those were fake coming from people who didn't know it. Actual spoilers for a movie that's been out about 24 hours now is not cool man. A) SPOILERS, B) I did notice a lot of bits taken directly from other films in the franchise (kind of like ST:ID took tons of scenes from Wrath of Khan). Should we start a thread for people who did see it that can spoil it?
I'm going to make one on Monday. Lets give people the weekend to see it then make the spoiler thread.
I figure if we make a thread that says it has spoilers on the header, if someone gets spoiled by it, it's their own fault. I mean, it's not like I'm commenting on random videos "(REDACTED)"
Have my ticket to watch it at a 4d cinema here in the uk on 30th, so still just over a week left. Can't wait, and I thought this would be a good film to appreciate the 4d, which I haven't tried out before.
I knew nothing going in other than that Han/Leia/Luke made appearances, and that it has been well received. Definitely felt like a 'star wars' movie (unlike eps 1-3), lots of great callbacks, great action, looked amazing - really feels like an updated version of 4. Which is the downside, the story really does feel too much like 4. There are a couple of other gripes, but they don't really amount to much. Overall was very pleased.
I don't feel like it was a remake of A New Hope. There were enough new elements to make it feel fresh. The whole time I couldn't believe I was finally watching it. I do feel it was a bit too predictable at some parts. I won't get into those until we do the Spoiler thread.
ep 1 2 3 are my guilty pleasures, i grew up with em ( i was born in 1999) , the music for ep 1 was amazing and i still think some of the effects in episode 1 still hold up today like the droids
To an extent. I've always been of the belief that physical effects will always age better than CGI, even Yoda from V and VI looks better than Episode I.
