The article states that it's been over a decade.

I had pretty much forgotten about this game.

The last time the show any footage the game looked like it could easily run on a Dreamcast. The graphics are like Halo running on a DX8 card, and the models aint better than those in GTA3

Anyways, they better redo the damn thing...

Since it's taking so long, they presumably have to continually restart as the graphics/AI/etc... repeatedly become obsolete.

it's been discussed on here already, but they also keep switching engines since they take so fucking long. I don't understand how any company can make money off a game that takes this long to make.

But anyways, there must be some fucking awesome guns and enemies since it took 10 years to get them "done"....

I don't know about you guys, but I really want to play an older build (the one shown in '98; 2001 didn't look so bad, either).

Didn't someone on their forums say that the game was currently up to around 9.8 GBs in size?

No way in hell an FPS takes that much space, unless they add a crap load of FMVs, voices and music.

Perhaps they plan on making it the single greatest game ever, one that will not just beat the competition, but full on eclipse it.

How much do you wanna bet? :110:

Remember, the textures, models, shaders, music, etc will all be compressed before the game launches (if the game launches, in this case). Take Doom 3 for example. Take the .pk3 files and change the extension to .zip. Now uncompress the whole dirrectory, tell me how big it is. Even Quake 3 uncompressed was over 5 gig, and that game shipped on a CD. 9 gig sounds pretty small for a game in development, at least to me. And from what i've seen in this game, it's nothing to brag about. They have a fairly small team that has only reciently expanded to a realistic size. I think full on development didn't start with the current design plan until '01 or '02.

If memory serves the installed version of UT2k4 was about 5gb, so it's certainly not impossible. Doom 3, Quake 4 etc are same/slightly bigger.

You just werent on drugs when you were playing / watching that game.

MGS2 is probably that big because of all the LONG FMV sequences.

No, seriously, am i the only one that thought the story of mgs2 was F***ing great? I liked mgs1 ALOT, but its after i finished mgs2 that i really started to view Kojima as a genius. The story is incredibly deep, and the manner kojima made it happen was total art.

The only thing i didnt really liked about it was Vamp. Cool dude, indeed, but cant he just stop coming back?

Oh well, I guess Kojima wanted to illustrate The typical very bad dream where someone is getting after you, but nothing can stop him, not even death, but still.

MGS 2 is misunderstood, the story is deep in that game. I guess it wasent simple enough for some people -_-

But no Cahaz I agree with you MGS2 had a very deep story to it.

It might take some more time for people to relize it.

"...and trying to make it fun". Doesn't sound good. I loved Duke3D, but this is taking the piss. DUKE NUKEM FOREVER WILL NEVER BE RELEASED. I'd be surprised if there was any game there at all.

Im saying, theres not that much that would set it apart from other great games like Halflife 2, other then laziness. The cutscenes are all rendered ingame, no?
