    Assembler,

I have seen this attempted soo many times. What makes you think this will succeed? A secret weapon? :) Don't take this the wrong way, I hope you do succeed and I could help too, but all to often teams are left with one guy doing all the work and ppl leave because lack of knowledge/interest sets in after a few days.

Unfortunately the only thing i would be able to contribute is music. I cant do sounds, graphics,or coding, but i can definately write some tunes for you. let me know:icon_bigg

( Oh BTW I would not be doing the music with some sequencer program ( no offense intended to fruityloops users, lol), i would be writing and recording with actual instruments.)

Guys, I'm sure Kevin appreciates the enthusiasm, but before you all start jumping in offering to do audio, textures, levels, etc., make sure to actually read the original post. Right now it looks like he is only looking for programmers.

Seems to be the same as any project in that respect. I've often asked for programming help in projects only to get a million emails offering l337 texture and audio skills. Everyone wants to do the fun stuff.

    Not that coding isn't fun.

I think that counts for most people here. It's pretty much a dream of a members to help working on a game that actually is gonna be produced (at least, it's for me). Plus most of the people don't really program, so it's not that I don't want to, but I just can't.

Given the average programmer makes $45-60k in a year,
I am offering 50% share that could earn them 200k for about
    two month's work.
100K a month enough money to get talent? I think so.

    Greatest risk has greatest rewards.

    Assembler,

Are you a programmer? My only gripe if you are not, is that I can just say, hey "I need 3 guys to do all the work (risk) and you can have 80% of the profits (reward) of some figure 500k!!" ... Sure 100k will get you good programmers, but if the game doesn't get finished or doesn't get through Microsoft's approval (which is VERY likely), everyone gets 0. Why not I do it all or form my own group and take 100%? It seems your in the best position, risk 0 money and 0 development time and get 20% or 10%, thats a sweet gig.

What would you bring to the table besides a company name, which we all can make... its easy! Again, I'm just seeing if this is advantagous for me or another pipe dream.

I can't see this getting off the ground without real funding, not even a lot too. You could pay programmers 1k a month + royalties (75%), so in essense if you get 3 programmers and 2 artists ($800 a month), you could invest $4600 a month, lets say 2 months $9200 and I would say you are serious lets rock. If you want to invest 0. I would say good luck! :)

Either way, don't get me wrong I want you to succeed, I'm just throwing out some ideas for you to make it have a better chance to succeed. Free work like this you will get people who do not know what they are doing and do not know how to "Finish" a game.

    Jeff.

i think that he asked for programmers because artists abound, and there will be many volunteers.

I presumed from the mention of porting skills in the first post that he's porting an existing PC game and doesn't need any new art at all.
Anyway, interesting idea here - if I had an XDK I'd be tempted. Best of luck, ASSEMbler.

I might be interested. I have been programming for years.

    I have some questions?

    Time frame?
is the schedule hard fixed or floating?
    PC game complete?
Is the PC game in DX or other?
Are you going the XNA route to save on SDK kit cost or are you getting XNA/XDK License.

I'll post more details, it depends on if I can buy the source code or not.
    PC source.

XNA is balls, the project would be XDK and shopped to several studios I know.

Let me know. I would be glad to help out. Last work I did with DX was 8 for a typing game but it was a few years back. My latest programming work is in biomedical and robotics.

Biomedical automation? I took two years of robotics, it's
a very interesting field as of late.

Very tempted to buy one of the Japanese mini bots.

I was part of a team that designed Hansen medicals Sensei robot. It is now used in over 50 hospitals to treat heart arrhythmias.

The best home robot to modify and build is Irobots creator robot. If you want a more mech style I would recommend robonova.

grrrrrr. I'm an excellent Java/C/C++ programmer, but I don't own an SDK and have never done any 360 coding.

As awesome as this project sounds, my actual game programming skills are limited to whatever I need to hack games and write my own utils (though I hope to change that). If you need help with writing and text editing, though, I'm game...especially if there are royalties involved (it would be kick-ass to actually get paid for my writing skills!).
