Well, the demo is out now and it's looking very good. Graphically the courses seems to be pretty much the same as Forza 3 however the cars look even better in Forza 4 and they were excellent in Forza 3. Turn 10 have also altered the in-car view to a lower position to give it more realism. Saying that, the in car view in ALL games is shit if you are aiming for a real driving experience. When driving a car you don't notice the car interior. Sure, it's there but the focus is outside the car. This always makes the in-car view feel odd to me. Bumper cam still is the way to go or even bonnet (hood) cam. The biggest major improvement in the graphic department is that the game runs at a solid 60fps!! Oh yeah, it really looks smooth. Control wise it feels very tight even on a control pad so no worries there. The interface seems easy to follow too which is a bonus. Unfortunately on the demo you can't turn off the shite music but I found that if you use a custom soundtrack and pause it you can then enjoy the wonderful engine sounds. I was looking forward to using the head tracking with the Kinect but it's not featured in the demo unfortunately. Overall a very nice demo that hold promise for Turn 10 to finally be the kings of console racers. Yakumo
I'll have to download this Mofo. I hear Turn 10 might start making sequels to Project Gotham in the future.
hmm, I don't know if they are the right team to take on Project Gothem to be honest. I'd rather see someone like Sumo Digital handle it. Turn 10 are a fantstic team as this Forza 4 demo clearly shows but they just don't sem right for a Project Gothem game. Yakumo
I've also heard all the now unemployed Bizzare creations people formed a new studio so who knows. Anyways Time to get off my ass turn my 360 on and download that demo
I'm really looking forward to Forza 4 but the whole Porsche situation just totally sucks. They were some of my favorite cars in 3 and even if they add RUF as a stop-gap it really hurts to lose so many different models. EA can go fuck themselves.
Doesn't bother me because I can't stand Porche at all. Right, where did I put that suit of flame resistant amour?
The demo is simply great, I was having a lot more fun with just that than I ever had with GT5 past level 20 or so  Honestly, Turn 10 are already kings of console racers. GT5 isn't even as good as Forza 3, let alone 4. We'll see what happens with the promised Spec II update of GT5, but most people have probably already stopped playing the game a year after PD finally try to fix that fundamentally broken mess of a game (plus some things like the terrible interface will most likely remain anyway).
I have seen some pictures at Neogaf and the cars look fantastic. LINK Can't wait to try it at this weekend's Brasil Game Show. PS: GT5 incar camera is great. Too bad is only for the premiums =p I kind of agree. I really lost interest in playing GT5 career mode. I'm really hoping that SpecII update makes me go back. Whenever i play GT5 is just because of the seasonal events or online races. I really hope Forza 4 gives Kazunori and his whole PD team a good idea of what racing games should be. My only complaint about Forza series is the gameplay. I find it very forgiving, hopefully Forza4 improves this. GT5 is more difficult and rewarding. I remember i was racing online at Deep Forest, battling for 3rd place and i went a little bit faster on the last corner than i should be... I barely touched the chicane and grass, but ended up losing the rear of the car and went spinning. Trying to control the car and avoid crashing scared the shit out of me :-0
Bloody hell, I thought this was a real picture at first. Uploaded with ImageShack.us They are some mighty impresive graphics. Yakumo
So far i like the demo even with the standard 360 controller. It looks pretty good especially the cars when you use the free look feature or whatever it's called. Also from the brief time i tried it the game seems to play well although will be better when the full game is out so i can use different cars and track. Would love to try out the Fanatec CSR Elite Wheel with this game mainly because i've been using a Logitech Driving Force Pro on my PC and i prefer driving with a wheel over a gamepad plus the CSR look a sweet wheel to go with this game.
Was kinda annoyed you couldnt change the controls in the demo. I like the gear changes on the bumper buttons.
I agree unless its an old porker. Loved Forza 2 I had a full steering wheel set up for it. Days later my 4th and final Xbox 360 melting and I gave up on them. Shame as I hear Top Gear have cashed in on it too.
Nope, as I said in the first post, the Kinect option isn't included in the demo. A real shame because I really wanted to try that out in a race. Still, not long to wait for the release. Yakumo
I have to give PD credit for trying fix what they can by doing stuff like adding seasonal races and patching to increase the experience from races, however that just emphasizes the fact that there were significant flaws in the game to begin with (not enough A-spec races, races didn't give enough money or XP). One thing I don't get is how people are saying the graphics in Forza 4 are so good, since the photo mode seems to do the same thing as GT5 and make everything look a lot better. When you're actually playing the game, it doesn't look anywhere near as good as GT5.
I'm not giving PD credit for anything. They had how many years for GT5's development and that is what they serve up. What makes it worse is that they could see what the competition was bringing to the table and still blew it. I don't know if they just took on too many unrelated side projects, got lazy, or just plain dropped the ball. Feels like a combination of all three. For myself at least though GT 5 cost them the "king of the hill" status they had in the past. The difference is GT5 does it with a couple of cars while Forza does it with all of theirs. Maybe it is just me but I felt Forza 3's cars looked just as good as GT5's premium cars on the track which is where it counts and Forza 4's look on track to be even better. PD on the other hand simply made a few cars that looked good and then recycled the rest straight from past titles. If I were PD I would have been ashamed to put those cars in the game after seeing Forza's cars or my own premium ones. I was a huge fan of past Gran Turismo games. I really hope that PD takes a good look at whatever went wrong during GT 5's development, learns some lessons from it and comes back stronger the next time. I guess time will tell.
Well...yeah, but at least they fixed something instead of just dumping support after release. IMO they should've just cancelled GT PSP, considering that by the time it came out the PSP was on life support and nobody cared about GT for it anymore, and it wasn't even that good. It's totally inexcusable that after 5 years in development they'd release a game with so little content in it though. GT5 just feels like a last gen game in the worst possible way. The thing is that in motion even the standard cars in GT5 look great (just don't look at them too closely). Still, it's pretty sad that they'd resort to using PS2 cars just so the advertising could say they have over 1000 cars. Forza 4 may "only" have about 500 cars, but at least they all look consistently good, and 70 of those aren't MX-5s and Skylines like GT5. You must not have played Forza 3 recently though, I did and was surprised at how terrible it looked compared to GT5. A lot more fun to play, but doesn't look that good, even at the time of its release the graphics weren't anything great.
This demo would of been perfect but without anti aliasing, It wont be. I'd wish they would release it for PC, so we can use AA, it would be a beautiful game then!
I'm glad PD keeps supporting GT5, and finally adding new cars and tracks, plus the return of features from GT4 and GT5p that some stupid reason weren't on GT5. Today, if you want to play the best GT game, you have to get GT4. And that's a shame for PD. Still, i doubt GT6 will be on PS3, so they better keep listening to the fans and improve the game, so GT6 becomes a more modern game in all areas. As for Forza graphics, i criticized it a lot on the first two games, but on Forza 4 the lighting system is very good. So the game looks more realisting instead of having a cartoon look. Plus if they fix the forgiving driving system, Forza4 will be better in all areas. I really hope Forza4 is a huge success, both on critics and sales. Kazunori and PD must learn a lesson from this gen. GT5 sales was more hype than anything else. Same thing happened with GT PSP. Yep. GT5 development was a mess. Ever since the so called Vision GT, then GT HD, and so on. They got the license for SuperGT, WRC, TopGear and so on, but couldn't make anything good at it. Another big issue at PD is that they don't have many people working there. This isn't PS1 days anymore. Turn10 outsource some stuff to help making the game develop faster. Instead PD takes ages to model a VW Samba Bus, a VW Kubelwagen and then forget to model a Honda HSV SuperGT car. Also, the biggest problem with the GT series today is the career mode. GT5 A-Spec mode is pathetic compared to the A-Spec mode from GT3 and GT4. If it weren't for Seasonals or online, the game would be dead. While i do like many exclusives cars from GT5, Forza3 and Forza4 car lineup is more interesting. On Forza4 IGN review the author made a good point. He mentions that Turn10 understood that if you add a Ford Falcon from the Australian V8 Supercars, you MUST add a Holden Commodore. The rivalry between those two brands in V8 Supercars was totally forgotten by PD. They added a Ford Falcon in GT3, and kept the same car on GT4 and GT5. Kazunori was the one that started a new genre on racing games in consoles, not caring just of brand new cars or supercars, but also classic and old cars. But somehow he didn't evolved ever since GT4.
