Yes, the black M2 proto pad casings were used by a few third party 3DO pad manufacturers. Here are a couple of pics from my upcoming 3DO collection thread that show the same casing being used for 3DO pads.
:-0 wow those prototype 3DO pads get around here's the sega megadrive version which are infrared if you look closely at the 3DO sample pads they have the same clear perspex window at the top used for the infra red transmitter unit but this time with a hole bored for it and a cable attached does this mean the infra red pads for the sega were released before the proto 3DO pads? i wonder :lol:
Sure, that casing was used in all of these pads before it was used to house M2 hardware. It's important to understand that these black M2 proto pads were simply a means of providing some manner of game-like peripheral to game developers. It's not as if M2 consumers were going to be playing M2 titles with these pads (at least not as first-party pads). BTW ASSEMbler - if you are interested in a memory manager for your Testing unit I can throw one up for download.
