I always thought it was a Myth But playing Halo 3 last night it happened... somebody actually tea bagged my dead ass not only that it was the ever dreaded Double Tea bag as 2 red Spartans were rubbing their Spartan nuts on my just blown up blue ass. I don't get it but then again......It's like the rick roll I don't need to get it. So Yesterday I Got Unreal Tournament III a game which apprently I'm MUCH BETTER at than Halo. I'm not going to go beating any of those Too lazy to get real jobs pro gamers but I'm not terrible. I like Unreal's speed over games like Counter Strike and Halo and such. But Right now it's probably a dead even tie for Call of Duty 4 and Unreal III as my FPS of choice Yours? And I STILL love the original Doom too
Mine is still the original Unreal Tournament, no question about that. It's just such a unique FPS even today, there's no other game really like it. Even the sequels are not really anything like it. Unreal Tournament III is...decent... in my eyes. That is to say, never going to be anywhere near as good as the original, but I have grown to love the game in it's own right. The main crippling point for me is that the official map lineup is mediocre at best. This isn't so bad on the PC or PS3 because there are some fantastic user-made maps out there, but the 360 version is rendered a bit useless for this reason, for me at least. I've never really quite clicked with more 'realistic' FPS's that are all the rage these days.
- Perfect Dark 64 (I always say the same thing, lol, but this game is sacred) - Medal of Honor: Allied Assault - Call of Duty 2 & 4 - Halo Trilogy - Painkiller -> This one is just insanely fun and pointless.
Single player: Painkiller. Multiplayer: Team Fortress Classic. Honourable mentions go to Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament 3 (instagib deathmatch with berzerker mode FTW).
I like Timesplitters. I got UT3 a few days ago and I like it pretty good. Its a lot better than some other Unreal game I got for the Xbox where the weapons were 90% melee and everyone flew around rather than walked.
^Yeah the XBox Unreal games ('Unreal Championship') were utter shite, both of them. From your description it sounds like you're talking about Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict, which is Unreal in name only. It contained Mortal Kombat characters for Christ sake! The original Unreal Championship is based on UT2003, which itself is mediocre compared to the original (and indeed, UT3). I can't believe I neglected to mention Goldeneye, I can still love playing the game even today.
Both Flashpoint and Quake3 are great games and I had a blast playing those during LAN parties back when getting all your friends with their PCs in the attic for saturday night wasnt called a LAN but a loser-fest  Problem is both games can be really boring without anyone to play with (specially Flashpoint since it has no bots!). Counter Strike and TF2 are like addictions: I'm not having a great time, I'm just playing, and CANT STOP!. Conker's BFD hybrid platform-FPS multi was incredible, with an impressive AI. But then again, I'm not that big a fan of FPS.
What I like about UT3 is that it has bots. I was pleasantly surprised to find that out, because most FPSs I've played in the last 2 or 3 years have been botless. How easy is the mapmaker feature for the PC version? Is it like a terraformer? I'm kind of new to the whole making maps for PC games thing, I bet the console versions of terraform mapmakers I've used were really dumbed down, but I don't know.
Probably the first few levels of the first Halo. Once you reach the Flood levels, it all goes downhill from there. But those first 4 or 5 stages are absolutely tops.
This isn't a game out there that I have played more in my life. The Halo series is absolutely number one. It's definitely possible that I've logged more hours in the Halo games, than all other games I've played in my entire life, combined.
I've never tried it myself, but Unreal games have always shipped with UnrealEd, so all the tools are there to make maps... I'm sure there are guides online to get started.
Goldeneye is probably the only fps I still occasionally play. And I still am a master of it ;-) you never forget the controls/techniques/strategies even after 10+ years
 Halo 1 and 3 for being a good combination of fast paced action and strategy, even though all the idiots on xbl ruin the game for me. The Quakes and Doom's and Duke Nukem because there FUCKING AWESOME. 007 and Perfect Dark for sweet single and multiplayer. Painkiller for being bad ass and bringing back Doom style FPS. Unreal 3 is pretty good but I think it sucks on the 360 and PS3. I'm not even a keyboard and mouse guy. I just think they play like snails. Unreal Tournament 1's ripsaw. I miss violent ass satanic shooters.
The games I play we even turn up the speed. Most people can't even aim straight. I love super sensitive, high dpi responsive games. Maybe I should put up a Q3 server in a DMZ...
Doom, Doom2, Ultimate Doom and Final Doom Half Life (+ Blueshift + Opposing Forces + HL2... _ Day of Defeat and Day of Defeat Source, plus pratically any WW2 FPS. Killzone (don't flame me) Goldeneye 007 Quake 3 Team Fortress Classic ( Years of fun! ) Unreal Tournament (ULTRA KILL!!!) Return to Castle Wolfenstein PS: I honestly don't dig most of today's FPS...
