That's right ! the place where I find allsorts of gems has a retro arcade upstairs that I didn't even know about so I went up there yesterday only to find that it's all FREE PLAY !!!!! Holly shit wasn't in it as I spent a good 3 hours in there playing on such classics as Out Runners, Beatmania and even tried out Para Para Paradise !! Take a look at the shots. Gaijin Punch or any of our other Japanese speaking members will confirm these games are free by the poster spared above each machine. Keyboard Mania and Alpine Racers (think that's what it's called) Some Namco Racing game and Virtual On 2 Beatmania Core Remix (two machines back to back) Para Para Paradise Busta-a-Move (Bust-a-Groove) Arcade by Atlus not Enix Out Runners Free Play message on Out Runners Yakumo
Free play ftw 8) Well if you can test what you are buying it's a blast ^^ Some Virtual On arcade action would be nice for Christmas.
Theres a place in columbus ohio like that. Its about 20 miles north of where I live. Its a arcade distribution place where you can buy arcades. They have like a hugh room in the front with all manner of arcade games new, and old. They also have tons of pinball machines. Some of the old ones are ms. pacman and pacman. And all of them are set to freeplay. ^^
actually here in the us some parts there were a chain of arcades called wonderland, and they did have free games as well, was able to play the actual street fighter one this way for free, sadly they all closed down after the arcades started taking a dive in the late 90's.
There's a place here in California that does the same thing. They have about 20 Sega Astro\Aero City cabinets with classic games in them from companines like Data East, Sega, Capcom, SNK, Konami and more. Some of my favorite games that they have are Afterburner, Rad Mobile (both in their dedicated machines), Altered Beast, Golden Axe, TMNT, and my classics from the 90s. All you have to do is pay $2.00 to get in and you get to either pay 5 cents for the newer games or just go to the Free Play section. The place is called Nickle City.
there still exsists nickle city, wow you gotta be kidding me i thought they all close down, its a bit difficult finding real good arcade places in san diego these days. There was one by my house but it got closed down due to fights breaking out. Sadly the biggest one around is dave and buster, but you gotta be with somoen 21 or older to get in if your not 21 years of age due to them having a bar in the front. There is another one, but they dont really have that many and most of them are lousy games.Plus most of the arcades are busted in either the joystick or the monitor crapping out. In fact ive been seeing that alot lately on some arcades in certain places, either the screen is going out, or like my arcade stick but alot worse, the damn joystick is extremely loose, is it just me or did these owners forget about maitenceing arcades, i remember back in the early to mid 90s, you alwasy saw someone once and while come repair a machine or replace the decal if neccessary, now adays your lucky to find a new game or one thats not in barely working condition.
Yakumo....I officialy hate you......living in Japan, 5 minutes from Sega world, loads of great deals, and now this.....*goes into a small corner and cries*
Yeah, there's about three (3) of them left around here. Last time I checked they were under new management which was the reason for the $2 price. (Used to be $3.00 to get in before) There are plenty of arcades around here, but they just lack the good games and people. The only games that get competition are those dance games and fighting which I'm not good at. Have you heard of Tilt arcade in Mission Valley Mall Sayin999? I heard they have some good games there and if you like fighting games people still meet there. Like Borman said, the best arcade will probably your own home now. (Atleast in the US.)
yeah, im not sure if it works or not, never tryed it my self, but back in mexico each credit cost 50 cents, so we would push the arcade to the side and put in a 10cent coint, it worked xD.
Yea ive gone to that one sometimes before going to see a movie, its alright, they tend to at time have the latest arcade machines aval, but thats mostly us games, they shockingly the last time i went there had daytona machine slined up in sorta a tournament way, they also got the latest guilty gear or snk game oddly enough. Hell they even had tekken 5 dedicated cabinet when it came out, needless to say its got a great hd screen. So yea id say check it out if you want the latest or some classic ones, cause most theatre or regular arcades still left usually have ghost squad, ddr, or the newest ver of initial d, though the theatre in parkway plaza does have an f335 cabinet, which huge and a great sight to see.
Holy crap, I was in your place, the arcade owners would have had to use deadly force to get me out of the Virtual On cabinet!
