Because I am tired of discussing with people how I sell my items, this is now on eBay:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=261460074741

Since I am selling a part of my collection, I got this nice item here which might catch your interest. I bought this Biohazard 4 Chainsaw Controller (PS2) prototype by Nubytech myself on this forum years ago, and I thought I should offer it here first.

The "final" version, which was intended for the japanese market was never released due to a trademark issue with the Biohazard brand and nearly all produced have been destroied on court order. There are just a handful of Biohazard 4 Chainsaw controller worldwide left, but so far I am not aware of any other prototype beside this one, so it is a pretty unique item.

It has a backward counting serial number and as far as I know it was used for presentation at some shows.

Location of this item is germany, I will ship worldwide as insured shipping.

    Price: **AUCTION!**
Best offer, please make me your offer until April 30th.

Bids can be made in this thread or given anonymously via pm (will be posted here than).

PayPal accepted and prefered, fees included.

You can contact me for more details if you want, just send a pm.

If you are unsure what this item is, please read this thread first!

    £20

Very unique item! I've always wanted one of the chainsaw controllers, I had no idea they had been ordered to be destroyed. I guess they're a bit of a rarity these days. I'm probably low balling but starting bid was £10 so hey why not!

If you don't want to place your bid public, feel free to pm me as written above, not everyone wants his deals made public.
Actually this was even made out between 2 diferent people over the weekend, so no complains, ok? :p

Is there a rule to against this?

Like what Luke has said, You could rip us off. Why the highest bidder don't want to known in public? It not like we going to kill him are we? Bidding must be shown in public as a honest way. Anyway To be honest... This prototype chainsaw not even worth a $100, just another piece of plastic toy in my opinion.

Don't post your opinions on price unless you are putting a bid in yourself (you seem to do this all the time)!

That said, I think the rules do state that ALL bids must be made publicly in the thread; it does defeat the object otherwise!

Vouch for a good seller and a nice guy though and good luck with this one.

I was tempting to bid but not now as I know that currently bidding in Private message, which could be a false bidding.
Currently bid price should go back to $20 unless whoever bid $150 should shows up on this thread.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Back on Topic

My final bid is $25. I wouldn't pay more for this.

We are still at 150$. The retail units of these even sell for 750$, that is not the common chainsaw controller you get at any trash store. And no, a unique item usally not sells for 20$.

If you want to know more about this item, or at least what this item even is:

Well I'm out. $150 is a reasonable offer, but I'm not bidding that kind of money blind. This is a nice item and something I'd participate in in a genuine auction with no starting price, but not when I have no idea what I'm up against. I'm sure whoever wins it will be going to a good home, here's hoping you get the price you're after.

Does this come with the outer cardboard box and the plastic presentation case too?
Also, the other ones I've seen (including one I own) all start with serial '000xx'. You're saying this starts with '999xx' because it's a prototype, right?

Prototypes have no box, you can see in the linked thread it is mentioned as well. This one was used for tradeshows and has a box, but it's a common RE4 Controllerbox with a White cardboard dummy in the back. The prototypes have backward counting serials, 999xx of 25000 is not really intended for retail ;)

Seriously, I have better things to do than discussing all day how offers for my items, which I still own and which I want to sell for the best bid are accepted. I put this up on eBay now and let them handle this for the sake of my nerves. Offering things here in for the best bid is seriously broken unless you like to see people trying to get rare items for trash prices by discussing the thread to death over it.

    To our mods:
Please save my sanity and close this thread.

Bit of a shame. I can see both sides of the argument. I guess with an auction transparency is key here. The response from some other uses was a bit ott but its on ebay now either way. Will keep an eye on the auction. Good luck anyway mate.

Sad, but well eBay will cost me a few in fees but at least it's transparent to everyone. Maybe auctions are not the best thing to try on a forum.

Auctions are fine on forums if everyone is on a level playing field. Sorry if my opening offer was a low ball, I was genuinely showing interest and would have continued to bid here against others until I reached my personal limit. Today I would be willing to pay around the £100 for an item like this if the circumstances were right at auction, $1000 unfortunately isn't realistic for me right now.

This thread would have gone smooth If it wasn't for $150 bid by someone in Private message. It put us off because of that. Also no proof either. Nobody is telling you how to sell aswell.

I already seen the link you have given. I have seen Resident Evil 4 Chainsaw controller in Virgin Megastore UK years ago either prototype or retail.. maybe in box... god knows which one it is because both look almost identical to me. Anyway, my friend did used to have one of these but controls are awkward, I guess I got big hands.

Virgin Megastore is not a trash store and sure hell they didn't sell for £445 ($750 as you mention) So Retail RE4 controller sell for $750... who the fuck in the world would buy that?

I failed to see how this Prototype reach to somewhere around $1000. Anyway good luck with Ebay auction but you should add more Information on your ebay page list to increase collectors attention.

I think I may be getting a little confused but this is what I understood:

This item is a prototype controller, the black controllers were set to be mass produced for retail the same as the Red PS2 and Yellowe Gamecube controllers. The black controller, for various reasons were set to be released but never did. There are a handfull of the black retail controllers that have since been sold for the example given, $750.

This is not one of those black retail units, this is the prototype of one of those controllers.

Thats what I understand from it all anyway.

That because the source is still lacking and still not enough evidence of this Prototype chainsaw. I'm still at the same page as you. This is why I ask the original poster add more information in his ebay listing page. Sometimes, some rare/proto item don't worth nothing and happen to be one of this chainsaw. This just my point of view as a opinion. Bit harsh but still...
