Are you swapping polarized caps for unpolarized ceramics for the GT?

If so, that's probably not recommended

what are your findings on testing it? Ive have done almost 40+ between express,gt,and pac's. I find less signal leakage and better filtering vs electro.

No testing, but they generally use polarized caps for a reason. If they could get away with ceramics, they would as they are cheaper.

Interesting since most use of ceramic at that time was pf and mf prices where many times over smd dielectric. Main users where military applications. Still mlcc is more expensive then dielectric today.

I'd like to think the astronomical prices and size of ceramic then didn't fit in to price points and profiteering of corporate 5 year models. So far every application I haven't seen a single issue or a cause of concern. Some variations in power filtering require a larger capacitance rating to equal it's dielectric counter part. But it's nothing out of the ordinary for current engineers to improve on the pass as long as you know exactly the circuit is designed for.

I'm not saying things cant be improved, but on what basis do you know the circuit is designed for it ?

You are correct about price, forgot that it will be large value ceramics (vs using probably cheap brand dieletric, I only buy panasonic etc). However, large value ceramics behave quite differently to dielectric caps. I wouldnt say I am an expert on it at all, just I know enough that its not just as easy and swapping them due to different behavior thats not just a case of its rating.

I would certainly be interested to know what research you have done on the circuit, measurements you have taken, etc.
