    FS: Stuff, perhaps things

READ THE ENTIRE THREAD BEFORE PMIMG ME, DUE TO USER INSTALLATION ISSUES ONLY INSTALLS ARE OFFERED OR WAIVE OF THE RIGHT TO A RETURN OR REFUND

These are "old new stock" meaning they've been sitting in a box somewhere in China for some time.

Now why should you buy mine over RacketBoy or SegaStyle? Glad you asked:

1)Most of these use two ribbons to connect to the Saturn which is far more tolerant of movement than those SSIC8B chips
2)Those sold by RacketBoy and SegaStyle have you insert a portion of the PCB into the slot causing it to widen somewhat. This can be exacerbated over time causing issues even with the stock ribbon
    3)Mine are cheaper
4)You will be able to say that your Saturn is now Simian Approved™

Now for the nitty gritty, none of these chips are currently tested but I will test them on an as needed basis. I have worked with most of these designs in the past and here is a rough break down of compatibility:

    32pin - 99.5% success rate
64pin -75-85% success rate (this largely depends on how good the ribbon is you're using and if you can figure out how to properly insert both ribbons correctly)
Sanyo - currently unknown but probably comparable to the 64pin. If anyone has a Sanyo they'd like to sell contact me.

When PMing me please let me know what type of Saturn you have and I'll see about testing the chip I'm shipping in the same model. A small minority of these chips are model 1 only or can be fitted with a socket for model 1 compatibility. I have these sockets on hand so if you'd like to give it a go be my guest; I currently lack the time to bother with figuring it out and my current model 1 Saturn seems to throw a fit anytime I try to get it to read discs. If anyone has a model 1 they'd like to sell please contact me!

Can't say that they are but I could get those if anyone really wanted to do a group buy. I can't afford $500 to get a decent bulk rate price.

A very small minority of the chips are SSIC8Bs (identical to RacketBoy and SegaStyle), some are SSIC7B and SSIC7A which are earlier models but suffer from the same problems. The vast majority are other designs.

Hey there, If I can't get my old chip refunded, consider my money yours. Knowing the chip was tested would be fantastic.

I had my Sega Saturn modded with Racketboy, I been using it for years now, I can't see no issue yet!

Doesn't change the fact the chips they used to use are terrible.

How much would it cost to ship a model 1 chip (20 pin right?) to the Netherlands?

Don't worry, I'll have plenty left,

Agreed, they work but the PCBs are extremely thin and I wouldn't be surprised if shipping them in the cold wouldn't break a solder joint or rip the trace right off the board. I have some SSIC8Bs (same as RacketBoy) and the PCB is green as well as feeling of superior quality. As demand goes down quality usually does too.

Likely around $12-15 unfortunately. While a sizable portion of these chips do have sockets for 20 pin Saturns they were built using 21 pin sockets so you'll have to play around with it to get it working. One set of pins is clearly unused when you look at the PCB but the 20 pin ribbons have their pins offset a bit differently than 21 pin ribbons do and there isn't much you can do about it best I can tell. Could try soldering the ribbon directly to the socket and/or PCB but that defeats the purpose of a socket.

As of right now I'm going to stop offering these for sale because the people buying them aren't able to figure out how to install them properly on their own and I don't have the time or energy to walk through 20+ people through what I assumed were simple steps. Some are having compatibility issues which is something I had anticipated and thankfully everyone is being very understanding while I work these problems out.

I will happily install a modchip into any Saturn with a guarantee it'll return fully functional. What I cannot do is guarantee the end user can properly install one without a lot of back and forth between the two of us.

Not unless you're willing to waive the right to a return. I'm spending more time troubleshooting problems remotely than it takes me to test, package, and ship the chips as a whole all because compatibility is all over the place unless you have a 32pin Saturn; then life is good.

Mhh, seems that for me is unconvenient then, since i live too far and the possibility that the chip is not compatible. Thanks anyway for your time and happy new year.
