Myself? Born and raised in Napa, CA.

    Fun facts:
    * Howard the Duck had a scene in the county.
    * The Zodiac attacked a couple at our largest lake (killing one) and then made a phone call downtown.
    * In the late 19th century the phrase "going to Napa" meant that you were being forced to check into the State Hospital (Nut House, looney bin if you will. More like a prison these days)
    * Homeplace of the invention of the loudspeaker

    Famous wine making region indeed.

    Hmm, my home town...

Has the UKs largest swimming pool, has the UKs largest outdoor swimming pool.
Was mentioned in the doomsday book.
Was where the comedy Citizen Smith was based.
There is a crater on Mars named after it... http://www.higp.hawaii.edu/~pmm/planetary.html

    Liverpool, United Kingdom.

Well, apart from being the butt of jokes about unemployed, thieving and other crap (Mostly by southern people), Liverpool is a great city once you clear away all the pricks that live there. Anyway,

The Beatles, need I say more?
Many and I mean many great music acts from the days of the Beatles to modern times.
Well known for it's TV celebrities and comedians. The latest and actually pretty good is John Bishop.
    Football (soccer)
2 cathedrals unlike most UK cities
Most advanced city centre in the whole of the UK. Well, maybe not counted since it's a modern thing.
Lot's of TV shows have been based in Liverpool or surrounding areas.
Once was a major maritime port. The Titanic set sale from Liverpool. It's even written on the stern of the ship.

And many other things. Like I said, if you got rid of the scum, Liverpool would be a fantastic city. As it is, it tries but the scum always spoil it.

Nothing here where my Birthplace is. It's just a very small village called Rudolfstetten-Friedlisberg with almost nothing.
Okey, there was a fame comedian & clown which has lived there for long time. His name was Alfredo Smaldini. As I can see, he just died last Year at the age of 90.

I doubt any of here ever had heard of him. lol

    Cardiff, United Kingdom

    - Settled by the Romans in 55AD, part of the fort they constructed can still be seen in the walls of Cardiff Castle
    - Birthplace of Howard Stringer (Sony's current supreme overlord), Roald Dahl and Shirley Bassey.
    - Home to the world's oldest record shop, Spillers, est. 1894.
    - Bob Hope's parents were married here in 1891 (I'm guessing he'd have been around 45 at the time ... :p)

    Swindon, UK

    - The rock band XTC, formed in 1977, are from Swindon, as are members of the related act Shriekback. XTC's co-founder guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and graphic artist Andy Partridge still lives in the town. (i accurately know them in person lol)
-Actress and singer Billie Piper was born in Swindon in 1982. ( wow swindon still looks shit)
-The British television comedy series The Office contains references to Swindon. In the programme Swindon was home to part of Wernham-Hogg's Slough office after downsizing.
    - The British television series Red Dwarf makes a reference to the town in series seven, in the episode "Epideme". The character Dave Lister dies and is brought back from the dead. Upon being asked what death was like, he replies "Have you ever been to Swindon?"
    - theres a pointless tower in the centre of town, "David Murrray John tower"
    - In 2008 Swindon had the highest rate of teen pregnancies, (accurately that don't suprise me)

yeah pretty boring place and wikipedia is bloody useless for stuff like this

    The village I live at:
    TEH NOTHINGNESS (population = 1050)

The nearest big city where I went to school, my friends live etc.:
    - Emile Berliner was born here, he invented the grammophone and founded several big music labels, for instance the Deutsche Grammophon
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emile_Berliner
    - We're host of the EXPO 2000 and the annual CeBIT fair
    - Our fairground is actually the largest in the world
    - and every year we got the 2nd largest Oktoberfest :p
    - the oldest house in the city (unharmed by the war in which 52% of the city and 90% of the centre were destroyed) is from 1566
    - "Video Teresa Orlovski" was based in Hanover, I work about 500 metres from their old HQ. It's a brothel now (no coincidence) :p

    - Food -
    Lüttje-Lage (click)

Consists of two short drinks drunken simultaneously. The dark beer is from Hannover and has to be drunken at the same time as the Korn in the other glas. Pronounce it "lüttye-lahgeh"

    Grünkohl mit Bregenwurst
    [IMG]
    (Green Cabbage with Bregenwurst)
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bregenwurst
A traditional meal from Lower Saxony and Hannover in particular.

The cake factory Bahlsen is also based in Hannover with some outlets in other cities. There's actually a factory quite nearby so I can notice the smell of fresh cookies with fortunate winds sometimes *_*

    Llandrindod Wells, population 5000

    - nothing.

I've read the Wikipedia article twice now and there's almost nothing worth mentioning. It was a spa town in the Victorian era? Some hippies moved there in the 1970s? Nothing of note ever came from the place, anyway.

Bradford, arguably better known for a dead police woman and some of the 7/7 bombers were from here. Granted there a few historic/celebrity people
The fact they have put a SERIAL KILLER on the list honestly makes me laugh. Anytime anybody talks about a key member of Bradford's ''Rich and fascinating culture'' I don't hear half of these people.

    Cyantist pretty much covered everything!

Sir Titus Salt isn't on that list and did a lot for our city. If you don't know much about him you really should read up. Seriously.

Also, Gareth Gates; his crimes to music being nearly as bad as Peter Sutcliffe's actual crimes!

The thing is Bradford will always be synonymous with Sutcliffe, just like Saddleworth will always be remembered for the horrific crimes carried out by Hindley and Brady. These were stories that gripped a nation like none before and their infamy will live on far after the people in question are long dead.

    Rio

    - Rio de Janeiro stands for the "January river". When sailors found the Bay (where Rio de Janeiro is now located) on January 1, 1502, they believed it to be the end of a mighty river. In honor of the King of Portugal, the name of "São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro" was born.

    - Rio de Janeiro was already called "Oriental France" by French.

    - The impressive Theatro Municipal, built in 1905 and located at the heart of Centro, was directly modelled on the Paris Opera House in a bid to replicate the sophistication of the French capital.

    - Rio de Janeiro received the king of Portugal during the exile imposed by Napoleão Bonaparte when he invaded Portugal. Rio de Janeiro was the headquarters of the only European monarchy out of Europe.

    - If you are born and raised in Rio, you may call yourself carioca. The cariocas are very proud of Rio de Janeiro and often make jokes about Sao Paulo, with inhabitants called ‘Paulistas’ from the Sao Paulo state and ‘Paulistanos’ from the city itself.

    - Rio has the oldest operatin electric tramway in the world called the Santa Teresa Tram or "bondinho".

    - Rio was the capital of Brazil for almost two centuries from 1763 to 1960 when it was moved to Brasilia.

Well if you do not like Snooker then you won't know who it is, he is also the commentator on Snooker for Eurosport. My hometown (in London, big enough so we can sub divide it into smaller areas), we have Jimmy White (who did have two computer games named after him). Yakumo has John Parrott, 19911 champion and spent years on a Question of Sort and Consumed has Jamie Cope, the first snooker player to get a witnessed 155 break, only possible from a foul so you pot the black first before you clear the table.

Melbourne: Literally founded by the Batman.

I think that pretty much covers it. Apparently we're the world's most liveable city as well.
