Galaxy Maiden Sapphire price range?

Discussion in 'Rare and Obscure Gaming' started by Greatsaintlouis, Nov 14, 2004.

  1. Just wondering if any of you out there have this game and what price you found it for/best price you've seen. Also, where would be the best spot to keep an eye out for it?

Between $250 for good condition w/ spine.... $500+ for a sealed one. I sold a sealed one for $650 about 3-4 years ago, but the price has dropped dramatically since then. I picked up one w/ a missing spine for 21,000 yen earlier this year, which I thought was a good deal.

  3. We are talking Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire, Arcade CD, yes?

Watch out for bootlegs of this game. There's quite a few kicking around, and very high quality. :angry

Does anyone actually know the numbers of the game produced? I was told it was only 1000. And there seems to be conflicting info as to whether it was a normal release, or trade show only?

I have it, eBay. Pay no more than $200... if you're like me, you'll feel cheated after buying ANY PCE game for more than $50.

Is there any good source for PC engine games other than eBay?

And make sure to grab a Taromaru for $100 while you're at it.

And will miss out on a lot of games. There's loads of quality PC-E games that cross the $50 mark... a few that pass $100 even.

When you have collector friends, Taromaru costs a lot less than $100. Seriously though, you can get a "good" copy of Sapphire for under $200 if you have some patience.

Besides Sapphire, all I can think of is (possibly) Kaze Kiri, Steam Hearts and Dracula X. I've found Kaze Kiri and Steam Hearts for $50-65 many times over.

The "best" place for PCE like all games most likely is YJ. eBay is decent for common games, but deals are dependant on the current market trends.

  8. I too feel cheated for buying most games - for any system - above $60 if they aren't some sort of special pack, but sadly, the economics of a greedy and decietful market will force me to pay more on some titles. I've no illusions of finding anything like Dracula X, Radiant Silvergun, PDS, or Sapphire for less than three digits. I'm sure if I looked hard enough and held out long enough, I could, but it would sure be quite the wait.

It's a bit refreshing to hear it going in the $200-$250 mark. All the sites I've seen on the internet quote a $400-$600 price range, which almost made me suspect the game was pressed out of solid gold or something. :angry

Oh well, I'll at least be content once I get Parodius...then the matter will be finding a PCE CD for a decent price...

  10. Parodius if I recall wasn't too terribly spendy, as were its Konami cousins Twinbee, Gradius, and Salamander. Gradius 2: Gofer No Yabou runs a bit more in the $35-$45 range, but that's still a bit out of the "Dear God, my wallet hurts!" range. Now going for things like the Super CDROM Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari... ouch.

$250 is a lot for an "old" game. I don't think I could bring myself to do it, when I could buy a good 6-7 new releases off eBay. Heck, I could probably buy a second hand PS2, Xbox, and GC for that amount!

Not saying that I never will...but I think I would probably sell it damn fast! Nothing worth over $50 stays in my possesion long! :smt042

Parodius will only run you about 20-30 bucks :smt045 and it's the only one I'll need from the Gradius family...it's like gradius but better.

I am worried about plunking down like 100 bucks for PC Engine CD though. It seems so high to me for some reason.

Then they must be idiots. I will buy these for $100 all day long... please point me to a place selling them so low.

I think they'll have to have a lot of patience... they come around so seldom, and $200 is about $100 less than what it went for not long ago, some diehard is bound to bid $250. A $200 copy is definitely not impossible... depends on how patient you want to be.

Kaze Kiri is actually about a 3500 game... or was until a year or so ago. One of those weird ones that was cheap in Japan, but a small fortune in the west. The westerners are the ones that bumped up the price on YJ I'm convinced, as I've purchased 3-4 (in Akihabara no less) for 3500 yen or cheaper. It was still a bit hard to find, but wasn't that expensive. The TV Show and Go! Go! Birdie Chance arent' the greatest games, but aren't crap either -- both easily clearing $100. Sylphia, also clears $100 from time to time if it's complete. Magical Chase, Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari (as stated before), Dragon Knight & Graffiti (if you like Dragon Knight), Madou Monogatari (fair), etc. If you want to drop down to the $60 mark where you stated you feel ripped off, there's tons of games -- maybe the most for any of the 16-bit systems.

Without a doubt. As stated before... the bottom fell out of the PC-Engine market (moreso in the US, but also in Japan) about 3 years ago. If you guys are bitching about prices now, good thing you didn't collect for the system then.

  14. BTW, Blur - I believe Parodius was a HuCard game, not on CD, so you should be able to snag it if you have a PCE system already.

Oh, I know Parodius is a card game, but I know I'm gonna have to get a PCE CD eventually. Otherwise I'd miss out on a ton of games.

It costs me roughly $0.25 (you know what I mean)

Forgot about The TV Show, Downtown Nekketsu and the others. There are a lot of expensive games, I'm just saying that I don't find them worth it. Sure people pay $$$, but it I've seen enough chances at less to know that it's far from impossible. I generally don't buy PCE so I'm a little out of the loop. The most exciting thing about most of those games is their reputation.

    I do now!
    :smt023

the PC-E I've always found as a rather special system. It's definitely not the pretiest of the 16-bits, and for surewasn't in it's HuCard only phase, yet, the PC-E fans of Japan seem to be realy diehard for the system. If the games are ever worth the cash they demand... well... really just depends on the person I assume.

Something I found odd in Japan is the startling discrepancy between "normal" video game stores - ie those not in Akihabara - that carry FC/SFC/Saturn/N64 games, and those that also sell PCE games. Heck, I found more pirate GB carts than HuCards outside of Akihabara.

That will soon change though now that grey/black area Game Boy stuff is outlawed :)

Well, there weren't that much, but the point is there were even less PCE games - next to none, outside of Akihabara :smt009
