Game Boy Action Replay dead

Pretty sure the k150 only does pic chips and it's not particularly good at that.

If you want to cover the postage, you can send it to me to be read out. Can email you the dump and either return it or reprogram with what ever you want and then return it.

 

I'd actually like to learn how to do it myself, but thanks for the offer. Actually, if you could recommend an affordable programmer that can do plcc chips, that would be great.

 

Plcc is just the package (it's physical layout and dimensions). Adapters take care of that part.

 

Yeah but you said the K150 only does pic chips. I need a programmer than can program a 39SF010, I have an adapter for it, so that is no problem

 

Then that's a nor flash chip, plcc part doesn't matter.

There's not a lot I can recommend. I doubt many cheap programmers support that chip.

I actually had a faulty action replay with a corrupt cheat list, after trying to delete the games that caused the action replay to crash the cart stopped booting altogether, I managed to reflash the chip using a TL 866 with a dump I found online which brought the action replay back to life, ended up with a pokemon branded UI but at least it worked

I seem to remember needing to run the rom through a program to format it properly, but idk the name or if I'm just remembering incorrectly

Yeah if skaman could possibly send his V4.2 dump to you, and if you could flash it to 1 (or both) of the spare PLCC chips I sent you, that would be fantastic.

Ok just to update this thread. Got the replacement PLCC chip from Bad_Ad84, but sadly it made no difference. So I can only assume one of the other two chips is fried.

If anyone want's to have a bash at repairing it (unsure how you would at this point) Let me know, and I'll mail it to you.

I recovered a gameboy action replay as mentioned in this thread so I could have a crack at it

even swapping over a few chips for testing if it doesn't work, it might be that the firmware flashed was from a different board version or something, I have a few different action replays so I could try find one that matches
