Wow that's a nice looking system! I love the blue decals on the Master System style controller. Here's just hoping the video and sound chips do the system justice, would hate for this to be another low budget system that butchers the games it plays.

So, you steal the guys pictures, make a post (then try and draw traffic to your website) but don't even credit the guy who did the work or give a link back to his site if someone wants to make their own?

    Edit:
Just to point out - assembler has edited the original link (in my post below) into the ops post. Originally it was to his own website with no credit etc.

Its a real game gear put into a custom made console, all the stuff you see in that picture is HOME MADE by some Japanese dude. The OP has just stolen his pictures and not even linked to the original website that has A LOT more detail.

    The original website is here:

It was about year ago that someone posted a thread with that japanese dude's game gear. still wish he sold these , but it was confirmed that he does not sell these. Such a shame.

I can perform all of the mods shown as I'm sure others (Bad_Ad84) can. I just don't have the skills to cut acrylic that nicely or access to the tools and parts to put something that nice together. If I did I might consider building a few like it (I've seriously considered it) but the asking price would easily be $250 for something that well put together if not $300. The demand would be too low to justify such an investment of time and energy.

And not cool for ripping off the photos.

I think this has been posted before, but it's worth a second post because of the workmanship and that great looking box.
Am I the only one who thinks the OP's porn star avatar isn't appropriate for this forum?

Wow that's amazing! I mean when I first saw the picture I thought it was something that tectoy was doing or another clone done right. This has been on my list of things to do but going through all those pictures shows me how much work it would be.

Ah damn, and here was me thinking it was a new clone or something. Oh well, whoever made it has some good craftsmanship skills, it almost looks legit!

Weren't we unable to find an RGB screen that small? I seem to recall needing encoding into composite first.

Having a consolized Game Gear is pretty neat, here is mine I made about 3 years ago. (bit of detail on smspower http://www.smspower.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11931 )

Not as neat as old mate's but it does the job. Just got composite on this, happy enough with that. Used a controller port from a mega drive 2, the Master System pause-in-the-controller mod, so I can use my modified mega drive controller (that has been modified for the Master System) for the start button in the GG. Of course I used Viletim's GG board!

Considered using an empty SMS case I have and use a modified GG-SMS converter to play both GG and SMS games on it (GG through the card slot, SMS through the top), but I got a modified Master System, so I didn't bother.

Also assed about for the lol's and shoved an LCD screen in one. I was aware of the ratio issue, but (thought) I found a screen that was advertised as having a "zoom" function. Ended up being wide-screen vs letterbox (do'h!). Looks ok with Master System based games, such as Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion.

My next GG project (down the track) will be fitted with a DSi Backlight http://www.smspower.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13132 as well as the video out board, but use a Mega Drive style 9 pin mini-din connector so a standard Mega Drive 2 AV/RGB lead. If there is room I might shove an s-video socket in there as well.

Figuring out an English or Japanese switch would be nice. That idea has come up a few times over the years, but without much sign of any presented theories being tested.

Amazing part is that guy actually went through the trouble to make a Mark III to GG adapter! Woah. Never seen a mass produce version. (not that I've looked much...)

That Japanese guy who made that is one skilled m-f! Anything we make will probably turn out to be nothing more than a Master System case with Game Gear innards rattling around inside - and you know it!

Mixed feelings about his Sony PVM mod, but still kinda neat and well-engineered (and it was RGB capable in the end!). Lots of great stuff on that website, love that turntable CD player!
